HANGING GROVE.

Mr. Jos. H. Long returned last Friday from a very pleasant visit with his parents in Ohio. Reed Banta is building a large hay barn at Marlboro for A. McCoy. Mr. Samuel Robinson, of Morocco, visited his mother Mrs. Mary Ann Robinson last week. Last Saturday evening was the occasion of a grand New Year’s supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mason Kenton. Mr. Harvey Phillips and wife, of Chicago, visited their many friends and relatives in Hanging Grove last week. Elvin Overton, of Surrey, attended the dance at Mr. Martin’s last Thursday night. Mr. Chas. Armstrong, of Marlboro, gave a very pleasant oyster supper to the young folks of that place last Saturday night. The Hanging Grove literary society meets at the Osborne school house to-night. Miss Effie Gwin spent the vacation with her brother at Valparaiso. Mr. N. M. Banta, of Chicago, was in Hanging Grove last week. On Saturday, Jan. 14th, there will be a box supper at the Marlboro school house, the proceeds of which will be expended for the Young People’s Reading Circle Books. L. H. Hamilton, the teacher of said school, will read an address on the Reading Circle work. Everybody is cordially invited to attend. A special invitation is extended to the young folks of Rensselaer.
