Siberia signifies ' thirsty.” Sicily is “the country of grapes." Caledonia means “a high hilt” Asia signifies “in the middle," Iron the fact that ancient geographers plact it between Europe and Africa. Italy signifies “a country of pitch,’ from its yielding great quantities a black pitch. Hibernia is “utmost” or “last habitation,” for beyond this to the westward the Phoenicians never extended their voyages. Britain is “the country of tin,” great quantities being found in it.
