An Ancient Steam Engine.

A discovery is reported at Helsingfors of an ancient chest containing a lot ol curious pieces of iron machinery with s mhss of parchments, the latter being a treatise on tho possibility of applying steam to mechanics, yhile tho machinery is a very tolerable approxinuv tion to the steam engine of a century ago. Both iron work anj. documents purport to have been made by Sager, the famous abbot of St. Dcnv.is and administrator under two kings <*f Franco in the twelfth century. Great Interest will, of course, attach to the Investigation of the authenticity of these antique remains. If they really an.
