Geo. Jackson as well as ourselves can perfectly recollect the day when this ingredient, of which they now make such a bug bear, would have been a redeeming quality at Washington.) And we, forsooth, are told that his supporters arc led awa by the flickering glare of victory that oui reason and prudence are chained captive at th- wheels of the coquerour's car. Was this the Cth or 9th January, 1816. this in siduous charge would come with a better grace from the gentleman. Then, in the intoxicating hour of Victory the gratitude of a rescued people might have been im prudent. But ncu after a lapse of thirteen years, are we to be insultingly told that trp the majority (as I verily believe,) of the people pic of the Uniti d States, arc acting under the impulse of the moment ; that we are totally void of reflection, or that we are incapable of making a proper selection ol oCkers.
