The great natural adva tages of North Carolina have often been alluded to by us, and v?c heartily rejoice at whatever holds out a prospect of uing them for the "general welfare." With the growth of maufacturcs, causing the rapid cir ulation of muc: money, will ceare the present rickety state of the banks, a;, d rather render North Carolina a creditor than a debtor state, in her domestic ar d foreign exchanges. North Carolina continues the appropriation made hy the act of 1815. of 600 a year, for the education of c apr. B!a!;ele vB daughter the fate of her gallant father and his brave cretv is yet unkeown. No one seems to have been left to tell the tale. The oldest f on of the equallv gallant Forsyth, is also educated as a child of tbc state. Nilcs.

The coal trade. About 60.000 tons of Lehigh and Schuilkill coal have been brought to Philadelphia during ihe last season of which nearly 28.000 tons were shipped to New York, Providence, Boston &c. In she preceding year the aggregate was 47.545 t ns. The ton is regarded as equal to 28 bushels of 80 lbs. each. In 1820, only 250 tons were received. It is passing into general use, and lias become a valuable article in the internal trade, subsisting many persons, and employing many vessels. Some parcels have been shipped oiith even to Richmond! It is thought that the price would be yet much reduced, as the business extends. Such is t;ie effect of competition in the coal, trade, as in every other pnrsuit.

It is, wc believe, generally known that one of the high constables, Mr. Garragues, of this city, was despatched some time since, to Mississippi, to take charge of several black children who had been kidnapped from this city, and "sold into slavery," in that S'ate. We now learn, that Mr. G. has returned with the diree children for which he was sent. He has also discovered in that State, 12 other children, abducted in a similar manner, whom he hr.a caused to be placed in security until he can obtain proper vouchers and formal orders for their redemption.
