prosperity of the country, and even to the peacefulness of its fireside. Public opinis not, as formerly, embued with the "est principles of morality. While the State of Ohio has been directing her enterprise to the enhancement of the wealth and the internal improvement of the country, and rapidly ri?ing and increasing in owerand political enterprise Kentucky, possessing ;, the physical elements which could command a distinguished station among her sister states, has been gradually sinking into political degradation. Yet there is taste, refinement, sterling integrity and honor, joined to the highest order talent among those of their citizens. These, it may be hoped, will re-establish the foundations of good government which have been broken up, and give to public opinion that tone and strength which shall obtain a controlling influence over the morals of the community O.
