70th season starting Satur
day, August 1st with the annual kick-off dinner to be held at the recreation building on the Chautauqua grounds. The evening program in the auditorium August 1st will be open free to the public. It will include the exciting "Spacemobile" program to be presented by the National Aeronautics Space Administration and will be followed by color slides by Gerrit Van Keppel of De-
Motte. -
The program committee has
all dates closed except two afternoons. Some of the highlights of the program include: The Gindl String Ensemble, the DuPage Symphony, The American Alle
gro Ballet and the Roy Glahn Showtime Vocal Ensemble. Two musical comedies, "H. M. S. Pinafore" by the Lafayette Opera Guild and "South Pacific" by the Crown
Point high school A-Capella
choir, will be given. Speakers will include Mort
Crim, WLS newscaster, Dr.
Carl Winters, humorist. Rev
Joseph Wick of Lafayette
Christian church. Julia Bock Miller will pre
sent an afternoon program "People Around the World"
usiing authentic costumes modeled by people living on the chautauaua srrounds. In
the evening she will give her
film lecture "The Canary
Islands" in color.
Mrs. Orland (Pearl) Rhine-
hart of Rensselaer will give
a book review. Sally Good
man of Chicago will present a orocram in costume, "Sig-
mund Romberg in Song."
Lowell Goss of Wolcott
will tell of his recent trip
to South America and show
slides illustrating his talk.
The Ruth Smith dancers
will appear for the third
season. A number of vaudeville acts have been booked, including Edwin Baron, master hypnotist; Bob and Bobbie, from the WGN Hootenany;
Chuck's Wonder Dogs; the Varju Brothers, harmonicas and comedy; The Dana Sisters, song stylists; Dick Sheehy, magic melange. Both Saturdays will be givejn to Amateur Nights.
The Senior Amateur contest
will be held Saturday, Au gust 8, and the Junior Ama teur contest on Saturday
August 15th, with $100.00 in
prizes to be given each night
