FROM THE WOLCOTT PRINCIPAL'S DESK At pre-regbtration for first graders here last week, the eager faces of the 48 young school rookies reflected the newness of school and an intense desire to get down to work right away. Tim Poindexter's grandson came home from pre-regis-t ration and informed everyone. "I didn't learn a Ithing."
The day was bound to be
anti-climatic because these young pre-schoolers have been hearing about, and looking forward to, school for two or Ithree years. Over a year ago little Marv Biivnes who starts to
school next year told us: "I
know you. Your e the Principal. You whip little kids." The neighbor's little bov.
- cj - ' ' Randy, starts to school next year. All his life he has
called us by our first name. His mother informed him that when he went to Wol
cott he would have to say,
'Mr, Sheets." "Who's that?"
he asked.
In our first year as principal here following Mr. Moore, another neighbor boy who had always referred to us by first name was told by his mother, "That's all right 4o use the first name during the summer ,but as soon as school starts you must say, Mr. Sheets'". The first week of school. Eddie came down, the hallway and nonchalantly shouted. "Hi ya Dale." We stopped him and firmly inquired, "What was ilt you were supposed to say!" "Oh, excuse me, Mr. Moore," he said. One of the things you're sorry you ever brought up. D. T. S.
H. D. CLUB MEETS APRIL 14th The Princeton Township Home Demonstration Club met April 14th in the Wolcott House. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Frances Sollberger with the thought. "What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other." The members, led by Lottie Fulkerson and accompanied . by Mrs. Edna June Victor, sang a hym. Laura Diemer led the creed, Mrs. Inez Spencer the flag salutes. Mrs. Rose Wilson used as her topic. Miracles, for devotions. The second part of the lesson was given by Laura Diemer and Mrs. Lucille Westerhouse. Start with a plan, a central theme should be carried throughout the house, each room should have a center of interest. Texture and pattern are important. Give attention to stvilfis. fabrics..-
