One of the most shocking crimes Imaginable was committed near VIncennes last Friday night, a man by the name of Vacelet, his wife and two sons being literally chopped to pieces with .an ax. Suspicion at once pointed to a hired man working for deceased, named Provost, who was arrested and placed in jail. The coroner's jury returned a verdict implicating Provost. The excitement ran high and mob law was freely talked about, but the wretch aved them the trouble of hanging him by taking his own life Saturday night. During the day Saturday he was visited by a priest, at his request, to whom he made his confession, but said nothing In regard to the murder, although urged by the holy father no to do. Desre&'sed was a quiet, Inoffensive citizen, and his loss will be deeply felt. Bobbery seems to be the cause, as the deceased was known to have some $2UG in the house. f Indianapolis Sentinel.
