The Hepuhlican is still doinpf "dirty work" for the Republican party, and in its last issue talk; about the "miserable management of our county affairs," and then and there and thereby wrote itself down ri a falsifier of the blackest h ue. The great Republican victory in Ohio grows small by degrees and beautifully less. Their plurality ovei the Democrats can not exceed S,G00. and the Nationals have nrarly 0,000 votes, showing that the people of Ohio are opposed to Republicanism by 45,000 majority. Those Sheriff pales that tho new Republican paper to be started by Thrfccp and Collier are to get, are what troubles the young man, and the old one, too, of the Republican. Will they or thwir friend answer? The Sentinel of last Saturday Contained a tabular statement showing the number of white and colored male inhabitants over the age of twenty-one years in the State of Indiana, by townships and counties, In the yea,: 1877, as certified to the Auditor of State by the county Auditors, to bo placed by him before the legislature as the official basis of the voting population of the State for legislative and congressional Apportionment of 1S79, as provided for by the constitution and laws of the State. By this statement it is shown that the total number of whites is 442,970 and colored 8,056, making a total of white and colored, 451,023. "AH hail tha Tall Sycamore of the Wabash! And all honor, likewise, to Hendricks and the boys who carried the flag and composed the State ticket. Th-y have made a great fight. They have overcome an apportionment the most reckless and unfair that was ever devised by partisan ingenuity and audacity. The fight was confessedly and primarily a personal fight; and right bravely and skillfully did Senstor Voorhees lead it. He has won, and well won, his Senatorial spurs; and long may he live to wear them. Rut it is only just to say that the speeches of Governor Hendricks have played 'a most important part in the result, lie never spoke better ia his life, nor worked harder. Three weeks ago this was admitted by everybody. But no Western man can be nominated wImj cannot certainly carry his own State. The icsultof the recent elections indicates that Mr. Thurman cannot be relied upon to carry tho electoral vote of Ohio, while Mr. llerdrlckscan, with absoluto certainty, throw the fifteen electoral votes of Indiana for the Democratic nominee. Mr, Hendricks is the coming mart, and live most graceful thing the Enquirer can do is to command Ohio to fall in behind- the stalwart Democracy of the Iloosier State. EcansviUe Courier. The result is stated as follows: A loss of three Republican Congressmen in Ohio, a loss of a Ua"ted States Senator for six years iu Indiana, a loss of three Republican Congressmen in Indiana, the election of three Democratic Congressmen in West Virginia, a loss of t o Republican Congressmen in Iowa, and a loss of the votes of two States OJao and Indiana should the election of President go to the house of representatives. The Radicals are trying to o' scure the frauds by which Hayes was made President by making- a great hubbub over the charges th il Tilden's friends tried to bribe the Florida rascals. But, says the St. Louis Republican: "If all they charge is true, the fact remains that Democrats only offered to pay a trio of unscrupulous scoundrels to do what was right, and Republicans did pay them to do what was wrong." An exchange asks "where are all the thousands of millions gone th. t the people have paid into the national treasury since the Radicals came into power?" and then intimates that no man can answer the conundrum. Well, it is on record that Radical officials in thirteen years stole $1,300,JOO,000 of the people's money. That much is accounted for. The bummer element of our party has been in the ascendency too long. We now ask that the tried, true, unwavering, unbuyable men of the party come to the front and assert their right to name the standard bearers of the party. Tho hour demands the service on their part. The bankers urge an amendment to the constitution, forbidding ny man to vote who does not pay tax. es.
