We call upon Cyrus Janes tho National candidate for Representative to know for whom ho will vote for United State? Senator, if ho is elected. The people want to know. Let no ood Democrat think for a moment about swapping votes on any candidates. That is an old trick of the enemy. A vote for the National ticket is a vote thrown away, and a half a vote for the Republican1! ticket. Democrats, stand by your party. A vote for the Republican ticket is an indorsement of Hayes, the man who occupies tha seat that more than a quarter of u million of a majority of the voters of the UniUs.1 States said belonged to Samuel J. Twoye-iisago the Democratic parly polb-d in or votes than al1 tho itlier parties combined. It w s swindled out of the fruits of its victory, a thing that will r.ot occur agiin, for the reason that the people Would not again tamely submit to so great a wrong, and the scoundrels who perpetrated the damnable outrage Would not dsn; attempt its repetition. The success of the Democratic party in thetouii ag election is as certain as fate, and to it, aiid it alone, can the people look for relief. Every Democrat in the land who contributed to the sul'.'CSj of his party hi 1S7G, although wj were swindled out of the fruits of our victory, owes it to himself, to hisparly. and to his country, to stand up squarely by the grand o'.d party and by his unscratched ballot repudiate the great presidential steal. A vote now, either directly or indirectly, for the Republican party, is an indorsement of that great outrage. Hon. Wm. F. Sherrod has been canvassing Crawford county in the interest of the Democracy, and has spoken to large and enthusiastic crowds. In speaking of his canvass the Record says: At lirownstown, the tirno was divided with Joseph Cox, E-q., of Orange county, a greenback speaker, who was completely djm 1 i sired by the Doctor's logic. Dr. Sherrod asked him if Capt. Jas. F. Stucker was'not Bound on the financial question, and he was forced to admit it. In the same manner, he admitted that Hon. John Benz is sound, and, finally, that Senator Voorhees had done more to carry terror into tho breast of the money sharks of the East than any other western man. In the face of all tais, hovr can greenbackers vote : gainst Mr. Rinz and Capt. Stucker, who are pledged to vote for Senator Voorhees against Ren. Harrison at the election of a U-S. Senator next winter? Uj to this time not a single Republican .-peech Iias been announced in Orange county. Oar opponents are engaged in a "still hunt" and we are informed tho Republican Central Committee of this county has opposed the sending of speakers here by the Slate Central Committee, well knowing that their speakers can make n satisfactory defense of the Presidential steal or of tho financial policy of the wrecker Sherman. Democrats are on their guard ami wilt not be taken in by this "still hunt." Either Dan Voorhees or Ben Harrison will be elected next Senator from Indiana. That is eonceded. The Nationals would as soon have the wrecker Sherman as Harrison. If the Democrats carry tin Legislaiure Voorhees wiil be the man. It the Rfpublicans carry it Hanhon will bo elected. Evt ry vote ca-t by a Democrat for the National ticket jeopardizes the chances of Voorhees and enhances t he chances of ilm-rison. A vote (r Capt. Jim S.uclier is a vote for Voorikees. Taxation rf .-. On tr.e 2.-th of June, it !J, th-qti'-tioii of concurring in Sennit amendments to an act creating txmris, &e., was tie fore the Iltm-e. Mr. Ilohnan, a I.'emoerat. tuTertxl t!u folio w ii g j rovision: Proviihil, That notJiii'g in this act -hall impair the riht of tho States to tax the bond-, notes, and other obligations is tied node r this act, . Sixty-three Democrats voted for this righteous amendment, and not one voted against it. Of the Republicans, only 8 voted "aye" and 77 voted "no," Thus the Republican party defeated in the House the proposition to tax the bonds.

In a letter to Tbos. M. Niehol, Secretary of the Honest League, of Chicago, of date -1st, instant, Secretary Sherman says Hit Republican party will cling to their hard money delusion. He closes his letter as follows "you may b i certain there will be no letting down by the executive branch of the government as to resumption on the first day of January, next." No matter how much busihe3s distress, bankruptcy, suffering and ruin follows, Resumption will be forced at the tppointed time. O. O. Stealy, the best posted newspaper nin.n in Indiana, writing t the Courier-Journal from Indianapolis, says that "the success of tho Nationals of Indiana means the defeat of Voorhees, and that there is hard work for the Democratic party if it is to win the buttle. The only hope the Nationals have is to elect four or five men to the Legislature, and thus hoal the balance of power, and demand that their man be elected to the United States Senate. Rather than see Mr. Voorhees elected, the Republicans woual vote for the National man, Plan Buchanan. Democrats of Orange county, Don't take any risks in this matter; vote for Capt. Jim Stucker, and you vote for Mr. Voorhees. Jos. Cox has got to be a great champion of economy and reform, and goes for our county officials, as the Republican would say, -'ruff shod." One of his charges of extravagance against the Hoard of Commissioners is that they paid for having some apple trues cut down aud removed from around the court house a few years since. Theii extravagance in this matter consisted in paying Jeremiah Hob son one dollar for catting down and trimming the trees, and John C. Albert, who had planted them, removed them for nothing. There is not a single term of our court's held but Mr. Cox, who is a lawyer, by continuing some case, or taking a change of venue, and for delay merely, costs Orange county many times the amount, but you never hear him say anything about what it cost Orange county in those cases. The last issue of the Republican contains about the usual amount of hash, dished up by "Pax," its Orleans Editor, the greater pa it of which consists of the old, stale 'barges against Senator Voorhees, that have lieen made to do duty during ever campaign since the war, and have been met and refuted as often asbrought forward, and we don't propose now to take the trouble to follow poor, old Pax" through his long list of charges and answer them veriatitn as he asserts we shall do. We put in the general denial to the whole, batch and defy the poor, old, bloody shirt shake.- to pronounce his proof. Produce it "Pax," or stand convicted of being a greater fraud than his frauduleacy, who sto! the Presidency. The National-Labar-Greenbaek editor of the Republican gol in h'u little piece last week, in which, to use a phrase of his own coinage, he went for the Democratic Central Committee "rutf shod" because of some appointments for spaaking.s at night, at different points in tho county. The appointments in question are those of Capt. Jim Stucker. Democratic candidate for It -p-resi. illative, who at the time they were made had no opponent and who, having work of Jus own that deiranded his attention in the day time and who, knowing I let tho farmers would b3 busy at plowing lor wheat, cutting up corn fce., mudeaferv appointments for night meetings, and who thinks like every body else Mr. National Greenback-Labor editor of the II 'publican that it is none of your ba ilams anyhow when or where he speaks O..I how little you can get. Hadn't you b.'Her say something about the extiavagasiee of removing those apple trees. "Pax" was on deck hist week flaunting his little bloody hirt aj valiantly as ever and making Detno cratie votes. -i . . . ..it! . . . . t .

tryIt will be my desire and my purpose to harmonize the people upon the issues of the da-, and will ever consider it of paramount importance to servo the whole people in preference to a moneyed clas3. The past official arts of tiie peoples servants have been of material detriment to the majority. Honey and its baleful influence have so watped and distorted the political horizon of the country by bribery and corruption that men in hi;h places, of trust and profit, have been openly charged with having ignored the interests of an honest laboring constituency and have responded to the demands of the money power, until, the people, tired and disappointed, have sought redress, through lesdly organized Committees to create a new party, established upon the principles of justice and equity. I heartily endorse and promise to fully carry out so far ag lies in my power, the principles laid down in the National Toledo platform. I will here s'ate that I have not sought promotion at the hand3 of any political organization, having always lived a quiet farmer, and having never figured in polities, except sis a citizen only, and not as a politician. Yet I would feel that I should be direlict in duty, should I refuse to respond to the call of my countrymen in this their hour of adversity. My efforts though feeble shall be directed in that channel which justice demands, having a high regard for all that tends to elevate and build up tho prostrate industries of our common countr-, and will do all in my power to brin about prosperity to the people and will use every endeavor to restore aet ivit3" and confidence to the laboring cltss. A widespread desolation stares, us hi the fce. We must meet the issues. The wail of distress which comes up' from the poor of the land, is of more serious importance to me, than any mere party feeling. Humanity demands that their appeals shall not be in vain. Respect full, CYRUS JONES To lie Voters of Orange County. In consequence of the non acceptance of Jonathan McBride to represent th National Greenback party of Orange county, as their candidate for the o'Hee of Sheriff, the Central Committee have determined to make the ticket folk awl Have designated me as their candidate, believing that I would be acceptable to the people who favor reform and integrity in oilice. - In .eccpting, atol consenting, to make the race lor that important o.'lice, I do so from a hijih sense of duty to my part. Belietin as I do that the people have the rijiht to select their own representatives for the various county oflices. I rely implicitly in the correctness of our cause, and ask the people to give me their support regardless of party. Ihisis a new era in politics, men should vote for principle irrespective of party ties, f assert that the majority shad rule, and believe tbat the people of this county will bear me out in the assertion, when I say that their wishes have boen ignored, and that the people have not befn consulted.
