WKTTTK.V E V TirC.l"EST. rcparle.l this life Sept. 4tli, l-'TS, J.it-ia!) Traohlo.-j J in tha 8Sd 3-ear of Lis ae. Ueceapd was one araonj the very oldest settlers of Orange county. He was Lcra iu Itaielolpli canary, North Carcliiia, Ja n. 171 . In company with Lis Lather, he emigrated to this S'.;tte in 1-12, a:: 1 remained oneyrar on the site where the city cf New Albanynow ylaiids- Iu WIS, he came to this county where, he remained until his Jeai,h. At the aje of 2i, he was married to Sarah Maris and with her commencs ed lifes eat nest battles- He settled 2 miles west of Paoli, where he opened up a farm, redeeming it from the heavy for-, est timber thot at that early day cover ed the lands of this county. Here by ind"stry he carved out a beautiful home devoting his chief attention to agricultural pursuits. On this home he re oained for a period of 5 0 years. Here he raised his family, carefully educating them for useful and happ- lives; he was always an active friend of Education and was a regular visitor at the old school house where his own children and those of his neighbors attended school. No man during ail those 3-eari gave mora of his time and influence to the cause cf education than did Josiah Trueblood, lie was an exemp'a- and influential meraler of the SyJctj cf Friends, and trained his children in that quiet meek and christian life so common to the members of this branch of the christian church. His remarkably long life may truly be said toJ.aTe been a quiet but busy and successful one. He leaves a widow (his 6econd wife) to mourn on accoant of the separation. TIe was permitted tonjoy the companionship of bis first wife on the journey of life until IS 15, a period of 2G years, when death took her from his side. In 1S51 he married Elenor Lindley, with whom he lived happily fur 27 years when he himself yielded to the pale messenger of death. On the following d y lor in; hands hud the mortal body down to sleep by the side of his first consort in the quiet burial grounds at Nwberry, li miles west of Paoli. lbs remains were followed to the grave by a large concourse of pnoplc who came to sym pathize with the sorrowing ones and pay the last tribute of respect to one who had lived so long In our midst. Father Trueblood was allowed time enough after being seized with has last sickness to summons his sons from their homes (two in Kokoino, Ind-. and one in Earlham, Iowa, and one from the old homestead). They came iu response to the call and remained at the bedside of the aged father until death closed the scene. The whole community sympathize with the widow and the sons of the deceased, llut to his family and to ail of us he has left a rich legacy in one more example of a "well ordered life." The sons no doubt return to their homes filled with the consolation of that Gospel "that sua tained the fa titer in all lifes trials. Let us believe the promise left to comfort u by the son of God who said to his Dcciples 'as I live ye shall live also." May the swtei sentiment of the christian Poet, sustain and soothe each one who shed tears of love or sympathy on the account of the death of Josiah Trueblood.
