He confined timsslf entire ly to a discussion of the fimmcas, a subfact upon which be ia ti best posted man in the eountry. Wc wish every voter in the county could have beard hisj. At the conclusion of kis speech Mr. Sbanllia was introduced to the audience and delivered" a clear, pointed, logical and elcKjunt address, confining bis remarks in the main to Stat matter!. The infamy of the Radical party in so rerrymandring the State as to disfranchise the Democratic majority was portrayed in it true clora. If the Democrat i control the next Leiala ture be farors a fair and honorable reapportionment, with Districts geographically compact and as nearly uniform in population bs it is possible to get them. Oa account of the lateness of the hour when be commenced speaking Mr. Shankliii's address was necessarily brief, but it fully met the expectations of bis friends, who are proud of their gallant and talented youn standard bearer and will testify their appreciation by giving him a rousing majority in October. Keep the good work going on. TThile Doc Wells was driving a team of four mules neav tils residence, oa tliQ roa.d WfSt. of here, last Prid. j", Ins little son ran up too ck'tc to one of the mules when it kicked hiin in the forehead, ser i On sly hurting him. This frightened the balance of the team and they started to run, Mr. Wells doing all in bii power to stop them but without avail. They became so thoroughly frightened that be oon lust all control of them and was thrown to the ground, be also being seriously injiued. The team continued it mad flight down the road until it reached Campbell's tore, at Lick creek, where it was stopped, with but little damage done to themselves or the wagon. Mr. Wolis and his litthi son, although both seriously hurt, are getting along well as could be expected. We desire itftin to call the attention of our readers, and especially of our farmer readers, to the importance of a united etlort on the part of all to make our coming fair an exhibition worthy of our county, There is nothing that is calculated to, and does, advance and improve the farming and stock interests of a community more than a well patronized and successful fair. It affords and invites an interchange of thoughts and ideas; it creates a friendly rivalry, the result of which is seeu on all sides in better cultivated farxis and better stock. The want of such an exhibition indicates a lack of spirit and enterprise that speaks badly for a community. Every man in the county, and especially the farmers, is interested in this matter and should use every effort to build up the Society and make its exhibitions what they used to be first class ones. . lion. Wni. F. Sherrod addressed the Democracy of this county at Bedster's school bouse, in North West township, last Wednesday, j-.nd at White's school house, in Greenfield township, on Tburs. day. At each of his appointments he had good crowds, and being in good trim, and fortified with solid, unanswerable arguments, be dealt our opponents such sturdy blows a they will not soon recover from. The Doctor was accompanied to each of his appointments by the Democratic county candidates, Who are also getting in some effective work. Keep the ball rolling from now until election dav. Her sickliest only lasted five days. It brings eaJntas to our hearts to remember that an important link in the chain of christian friendship has been separated by the ruthless band of death, though this we much lament, we raust bow submissively to the providence of an infinitely kind and loving father, who doetb all things well, and one of whose faithful children was the subject of thi3 writing. As she drew near death she spoke to her many friends around ber and told them not to weep for her, and assured them that she would soon be at home with Pa and Ma and many other friends who had gone before. While to-day we feel sadly bereaved of a faithful and cherished friend and fellow member ef our church, we rejoice in tb thought thct she lives in a fairer clime, where she is permitted to enjojthe hallowed association of the blasted in the realms of eternal happiness and to dwell forever in the glorious light of the sun of righteousness.
