Work on the premium lists is progressing rapidly. If you want an advertisement in them hand it in at once. The business men of Paoli are nearly all taking advantage of this means of advertising themselves and their business. James Van Bershot and Warren Foster tried to black each others eyes in front of the Albert House Saturday for all of which the first named was fined and coated, before Squire Stinson, to the tune of about tlG. A woman was at the bottom of it. Paoli is a good town and a large majority of our people are clever, virtuous and intelligent and attend strictly to their own business, but truth compels the stntement that we number among our citizens a few vile, black-hearted, devilish iersons whose only stock in trade is slander. They are known to all and should be shun nod by all. They are unworthy the notice of any decent person. Misfortunes never omie singly. The oats crop is threatened by myriads of insects, which for want of a better name tlia farmers call lice. The Rl!il3 - In this vicinity are literally.. alive with these little pests and tLs entire destruction of the crop, which until now promised 211 c normoui yieLI, is predicted. The ouilcok - is gloomy, but remembering tho groundless scare about the fly sand rust, in the wheat,: a shsrt time since, we are in hopes that tho scire will r.gain be worse than the hurt. The Normal Institute bids fair to be larger and better than usual. All teachers, nd persons desiring to review the Common Branches, or to study Elocution, should spend the five weeks here. Persons residing near enough to Paoli to come in each Monday morning and return home each Friday evening, can be boarded at $1 60 per week. The entire expenses of such will he but $12 for the terra. Come every one. The foot bridge across the creek, near the factory, is in a dilapidated and dangerous condition. It should be repaired before some body is killed or crippled thereby. The creek at that poiat ought to be spanned by a good, substantial bridge, that would accommodate the travel upon that road at all times in the year. Tho creek was up from the rains yesterday so that it was not fordable. Thomas Copeland died last night at the residence of his father, Simon Copeland, near this place, of consumption. He was an excellent young man and was highly esteemed, for his many noble qualities, by all who knerr hm. The bereaved family has our warmest syoipathies. Col. F. A.
