Demccratic Congressional Convention at Shoals July 10, 1878. Every Democratic vote given to the Nationals increases the chances ofsuccers of the Xtej-ubiiian party. There is no need of a Greenback party in this State. The Democratic party answers all purposes. Read the platform. The depression in business clrrljt. nni Hi a nnt wrstil en f.-'finw nf the people, can be traced directly to the vicious legislation of th Republican party upon the financial questions. The people now a it and are determined to drive in&i puny irom power. H3 corna a 1 jF pieie overmrow is an a?surca ;aer. Democrats havo but to stand firmly by their party organization to jpin a decisive and overrvhelminj victory in the coming contest. q-q peculiarity of the Greenback X-rty' Is that, like a Georgia rejicicat, it is composed eniuely of lenders. This explains the singular fact in the history of new and Independent parties, that they always mate quite as much noise daring the campaign m the oldest and biggest party on record, and never make any kind of a show nt the poll?. Again the dark Angel of death has swept over our land and removed from among us one of our dear friends and schoolmate. Saturday evening Authur Maxwell breathed his last. Ho fella victim to the dreaded desease, consumption. He was about 20 years of ge, just in his manhood, and noxv he is gonejwe can hardly realize it. How well we remember him as he appeared In his place in school always ready to do something for a schoolmate. Genial, kind and an affectionate student. He was a decided poet, always contributing his poems to our school papers. We have one in our possession now and prize it highly. And since he has passed away let each and every one of his friends try to live so as io meet him again. To his parents and sister we extend our heartfelt sympathies in the hour of affliction.
