Application has been made for his admission into the insane asylum. John T. Stout, of the firm of Stout Brothers, merchants of this place, is prominently mentioned as tho llepublican candidate for Treasurer. John is a clever, whole souled gentleman, and would make a strong fight. Every Democrat in Paoli township should consider it his bound en duty to be present at the Democratic township convention, to be held hero on Saturday, lGth in stant. Come and let's nominate a good and invincible ticket. Dr. K. D. Walters, Win. B. Wilfung, Joseph Wilfong, Harvey Carr and Justices James M. Baker and Charles Higden, all of Northeast township, were In town Saturday on business connected with the insanity of Emory Carr. " M Judge Thomas L. The protracted meeting in the Presbyterian church closed on Saturday night. There have been eleven additions in all. Mattox at No. 13, this township, closed last Friday. The closing exercises were entertaining and gave evidence of a duty well performed on the part of both teacher and pupils. Quite a number of our citizens were present, among them Prof. Ogdon, Mr. A. J. Rhodes, Judgo Mavity, W. A. Bell and Dr. IT. II. lion, all of whom delivered address The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry G. Chambers, whose serious illness we noted last week, died last Thursday evening and was buried Friday afternoon. She was an interesting little child and the grief stricken parents have the sympathy of our citizens. The Superintendent of the insane asylum, at Indianapolis, last Thursday, notified tho Clerk that Hachael Thompson, an inmate of the asylum from this county, was incurable and directing her removal. The Sheriff went after her Friday and returned Saturday. John T. Noblitt, Esq., of Southeast, is spoken of as a candidate beloie tho Democratic convention for the office of Sheriff. Mr. Noblitt is a leading citizen of his township, a man of sterling integrity and would make a good officer. Tho Democracy of S mtheast township v III meet in convention, at Valeene, on Saturday, 23 I instant, for the purpose of nominating candidates for township offices. See call elsewhere. Mr. John W. McCart, one of Orleans township's oldest, best kn nvn and most highly esteemed citizens, died Monday. We have not learned tlie particulars of his death. The Board of Commissioners met Monday and are still in session all the members present. There is considerable business before them. Charges of crookedness are made against the Superintendent of the poor asylum. Tho matter will ba investigated. Tickets br the township elections will be printed by us very cheap.
