..When n Republican is heard to sirguo tl.it there sllould bo no politics in home eh ctlons, it U quite m well to answer them hy saying-, 'S to 7." There was supposed to be no polities in the members of the Supreme Court of the United States, cither, still they voted 8 to 7 on th electoral com mis-don, and the people's Democratic candidate was defeated and a lltpublican i'resislent was fraudulently counted in. It is rc:i I funny to hear a membtr(?)of the inharmonious Hopublican party, prating about the want of harmony ia thj ranks of the "unterrified Democracy." In comparison with the "war to the knife and knife to tho hilt" conflict raging between tho fraudulent Republican President md such leaders as Conkling, Blaine, Chandler and others there is angelic harmony in tho Democratic ranks. "It will cure any pulmonary complaint. I drank twentyMwo gallons in cisLtee niontiis, find have been a well man ever sine?. Take five pounds of pure white rock candy and dissolve it in a gallon of old rye whisky the older the better. 1 he whisk-y must be distilled in the old fashioned wny, with a copptr worm. IN o steam wr.tsky snould bo used, lor the steam distillation now used ' develops the latent poison of the berry and fi ! 1 your system with fusel and other deadly oils. Always get the pure v,-hit rock candy. Colored candies are invariably poisonous. A yellow tinge shows the presence of an insoluble earth, deleterious to the stomach and dangerous. The clear white rock candy 13 pure crystallized suar, and sacha ri ne matter, you know, ia the most nourishing or all substances, lou get it in your beefsteak, in 3011 r In nib chops, in your buckwheat cakes, in all your vegetables and in everything tou cat. Now, to make this precious elixir, what must you do? Put your five rounds of rock candy Into a gallon of whisky, and set it on yur table. Let it remain there until the eandv dissolves, A week may go h.v before it is absorbed by the whisky. Whenever yon pass the demijohn stop and give ii a good shaking, aud have your wife and daughter or ST-vaTits do the same. In this way it will sooner dissolve, and you will find yourself th owner of a cordial soothing and delightful, as far apeuor to cod liver oil us maraschino to catnip tea." "Now, continued Mr. Schnabel. I have told you the remedy, and yon know how to make it. I want to show you how it acts, and why it is that it tftects a cure. V hat is htroditary consumption? It is ulceration of the lungs. What is ulceration ef the lungs? It i a scrofulous affection, and comes down from father to son, the same as scrofula. Like external scrofula, it is chronic ulceration, and of itself cannot heal. Acute inflamniaaons, like boils, always heal. If you can turn a chronic inflammation of the lung into an acute inflammation it may be cured. Iu ninety-nine cases out of a hundred, incipient consumption, if you could get into the lung with a stick of caustic, by cauterization you could produce the neceisnry acute inflammation and the patient would recover. But this can't be done. This rock-candyand-whisky cordial, however, takes the place of the caustic. Its use produces a setnFacute inflammation of the surfac of the lung, thus pulting that organ into a curable condition TI115 moment the alcohol touclic4 the stomach it Hashes into circulation, by opening and expanding the capillary vessels or pores ot the stomach. As the saccharine matter combines with the alcohol both are tiansmitted into the blood, and both are sent to the lungs. Vrhcn the tir you breath strikes the blood iu the lurjrs the alcohol produces the acute inflammation, and it is the only element that will produce it. The acute inflammation draws the blood to the weak point, and th saccharine matter, taklag advantage of the inflammation, builds up and strengthens the weakened or;an The membrane is thickened and healed, and after a few weeks' treat ment can bear all changes of weather with impunity. Coughs of Ions stand ing re totally cured within a month The blood, which had been black and sluggish, resumes its bright scarlet hue, and the wasted f'esh rcacctimuiafes. You'll si'Ow heavier rFht away. A man who is steadily losing flesh is slow ly cving, and a man under this treat ment who is steadily gaining flesh my be sure that he is rapidly recovenn Sir. "UnVhef, he snys, is the damning f-in." I pass for the present to eonsi-kV the true meaning, of the word IIFI as it occurs in the Bible. The word, occurs only thirty-one times in the old testament. The original word, sheol, occurs just sixty-four times. The learned men who gave us onr translation rendered the word often er by Ferae other name than that of Hell. As I have said, only thirty-one times out of sixly four have they ' rendered it by that terrible name that Orthodox clin.g3 to as meaning a place of endless torment; a raging sea of fire and brimstone in which God is to burn his own offspring to all eternity. I am satisfied clearly and happyly that Moses never thought of Fiicha place when he used the word ShtoV Let Orthodox take his, title and begin where the word first occurs and study the connection, and I am satisfied he will see very clearly that Moses had no reference to such a place. Here is the first time the wrd Hell occurs in the Bible; Deut- 32, 22, "For a fire is kindled in mine anger and shall burn unto the loiccst Hell and shall consume the earth with her increase and set on fire the foundation of the moun tains, llemember that Moses, when giving us the history of the creation, never mentioned the word Hell. God himself prononuced judgment on our first parent in the day of the first trans gression, and Cain, the first murderer. stood with reeking hands at the bar of .Jod and received his sentence, and yet no hint was dropped that either our first parent or Cain had exposed themselves to the awful doom of endless woe. Let seeker after truth examine one by one every passage 111 wtiicn tl;e werd lieil occurs ia the old testament, exam ine then carefully, read the connection, remembering all the while that every learned man in every branch of the Christian church acknowledges that the original word (Sheol) translated Hell, oficutr means something else than a place ot punishment m a future state. And then consider the character of God as a just God and a Saviour as our loving father "who chastises ua for our profit that we may bs partakers of hi3 holiness." Who is revealed to us as on? unchangeable and forever good, "whose tender mercy is over alt his works." It Orthodox still thinks the place called Hell (sheol) is endless, let him believe nt least, that men can by repentance and reform: tien be delivered from it. Such was David's experience, hence we hear the Psalmist ex. claim- "Great is thy mercy toward me for thou k'4st delivered my soul from the lowest Hell. Ps. 8G, 13. And then vhen the "remedial scheme," mentioned by Orthodox in his communication, shall have accomplished the end for which God in the infinite counsel of his own will ordained it, that is the redemption of the word, through our Lord Je sus Christ, there will no longer be needed a place of punishment, ihen will be f'd.(; lied God's prediction, lT will ran, som them from the power of Sheol; I will redeem them from death; O death I will be thy piagne; O Sheol I will be thy destruction." Hosea, 14, 14. "God will render to evtry man according to his works." lie will by 110 means clear the guilty, And beyond all rewards and punishments God" will "gather together in one all things in Christ botn which are in heaven and on earth even in him." Eph. 1, 11. All nations (and this means according to Orthodox evry human being) "Shall coma and worship before thee, O Lord and shall glorify thy name." Pga. 80, 9. "Then coraeth the end whan he shall have put down all, and all authority and power, for he must reign till he hath put all enemies under hia feet. Ttte last enemy shall be destroyed, death. And when all things shall be subdued unto bin then shall the son aFo himself bit subject unto him that put all thing under him thrtt God roav b all in all." 1 Cor. 15. 24 to 23.
