Our fellow townsman, Abraham NobUtt, wa3 appointed last week as one of the experts to investigate the records of the Marion county Auditor and Treasurer's offices. The appointment was mads with out solicitation on his part, his first intimation of it being: a telejrram from the President of the Board of Commissioners to com to Indianapolis. The Investigation will cover a period 01 ten years and will require near - a year to complete it. The appointment of Mr. Koblitt is an excellent one; ha ia yourg and active, a clever gen tleman and possesses excellent buiriCE3 qualifications. He served eight years as Auditor of this coun ty, and is thoroughly conversant with the work he will be called up on to perform under his appoint moot. Clinton, of Northeast township, was bitten by a rabid dog a few days since, and fears are entertained that hydrophobia will result therefrom The citizens of Orleans and 'vi cinity are respectfully requested to meet at Gender's Hall, on Wednes day, December 2G, 1877, at 7 o'clock p. m. prompt, for the purpose of taking into consideration the building of a turnpike from Orleans to Paoli, Indiana, and to appoint a committee to confer with a like committee from Paoli. The citizens of Paoli and yicln ity should at once hold a similar meeting for the appointment of a committee to meet and confer with the committee from Orleans, and to take such other steps in the matter as may be. deemed advisa ble. -Eo.
