From a recent issue of the Otta wa, Kansas, Republican we learn that our old friend and former citizen, Captain Wm. Leonard, Is the Republican nominee for Coramis sioner of the 2d district in Frank I in county. Captain Leonard was born and reared in this county and is a clever gentleman and first class business man in whom implicit confidence can be placed. "Bar rin" his everlasting politics we wish him unbounded success. The Republicans of Franklin county, Kansas, will never have cause to regret his election. " On our first page will be found an Interesting and readable letter descriptive of a recent trip to the "Lone Star State" by Mr. John D. Carter, of Orleans. Mr. Carter is well known as one of the leading and most successful business men of our county and Is besides a courteous and affable gentleman. Read his letter It will interest you. Wm. Tea ford, trustee of Greenfield, township, resigned during the recent term of the Board of Commissioners and ex-trustee Joshua Way nick was appointed in his stead, but refused to accept the otlice. Last week Mr. Jesse A. Wells was appointed and qualified as trustee of that township and will SU out the unexpired terra cf Mr. Tea ford. Messrs. Keith & Bates have removed from Orleans to this place and opened a boot and shoe shop on tire north side of the square, in the building just east of Dr. Bowles's drug store.
