Mr. Harlan is an uncle of Mrs. Farrell. Abraham Noblitt declined to qualify as assignee of G.M. Gasa way and the court appointed Jere miah Hobson as his successor. Thos. L. Brown has a fine shepherd pup that was presented to him by a friend in Louisville. The pup was imported direct from Scotland. William Farrell, Abe Noblitt, A. T Dickey and Samuel Harlan went to Lost River fishing Monday. They returned yesterday. They had the usual luck. The motion for a new trial in the case of Martha A. Wells vs. Wm. P. Shively was overruled by the court and the plaintiff prayed an appeal to the Supreme Court. In another column will be found a notice of the sale of some valuable real estate by Frank McCul lough, Administrator of the estate of Isaiah McClain, deceased. of MitchHugh McKnabb, ell, spent last Sabbath in our town. Years ago he was a citizen of our county, and still seems to foster a kindly feeling for our citizens. Braxtan & Mallory's fine trotting stalling, Chancellor Black Hawk, has been brought back to town and can be seen at the stable of Mr. T. N. Braxtan. He is a splendid animal. A large number of hogsheads of tobacco hava been hauled through here from the southern part of the county during the past few days. They were hauled to Orleans for shipment to Louisville. well known Jackson Heard a well known citizen of Stamperscreek township died on Tuesday of last week of Bright's Disease of the Kidneys. He was buried Wednesday at Sinking Spring Church. In the replevin suit of Webb vs. Heckman the jury having disa greed was discharged Saturday and the case continued until next term. The property in dispute is the per sonal property of West Baden Springs hotel. Walter Beaty, aged about 50 years, and a highly esteemed citizen of French Lick township, died Monday of pnuemonia. De ceased was a brother of Joseph Beaty, recently a Republican candidate for County Commissioner. ' Quarterly meeting will be held next Sabbath at the new meeting house known as Stout's Chapel, 4 miles south of Paoli, on the Leavenworth road, Rev. I. N. Thompson, presiding elder. The dedication sermon will be preach ed at the morning services. The suit to French Lick Springs was tried Saturday and decided in favor of the defendants.
