N. Fitch will address Ills fellow-citizens of White county, 011 political . principles, at Montleello, on next Wednesday, September the 23th, all o'clock, P. M. A general turn out is requested. Sclsool IIOU3C. The citizens of Montieel'o and the surrounding School Districts are requested to meet in the 1st Presbyterian Church, on next Monday evening, 27th insL, for the purpose of consulting and adopting measures for the erection of a Union Free Grade School House. A general attcn dance of all invested in schools and school houses is requested. A large and respectable num ber of the citizens of Montleello and vicinity assembled in the 1st Presbyterian Church, on last Monday evenig to listen to an auaressonii.aucationandcu p, by Mr. Larimorc late of Ohio, and to take measures for procuring a School Teacher for the .ensuing winter. Mr. Larimorc delivered an excellent address, which was listened to .with marked attention by the audience and was the means, no -doubt, together with the visible necessity which has been staring us in the face for several years,' of setting the people to work to erect a suitable school house, for tho town and vicinity. After a unanimous vote to .employ Mr. Larimore as a Teacher, and discussing as to die erection of a suitable building, the meeting adjourned to meet again on 11 est Menday evening, to adopt such measures as might be . thought best, to consumatc the object of tho meeting. The citizens of- the surrounding district arc earnestly invited to attend. Judges cf 'the' Saseme Court. - We discover "there is some' misappre hension in the public mind in regard to the election cf Judges of the Supreme Court. Some suppose each district votes only lor its own Judge; while others supposs that the electors in the State vote for four Judges without regard to location in districts.. Voters 'should inform themselves correctly oa this -point, or their votes may be lost'. Every votftr in the State may vote for four Judges, bat he can ttte for but one n a single district; and if he should veto for two jn one di.s:. trict he would tnrow away his vote. For example no voter pan vote for Slew-art end Howe, or for Davison and "Dejvey, and so on. Each one "of the four for whom he votes, must reside in a dh rent district. - And ' we would--suggest jo the press, in publishing tho ticket at the head of their paper, to designate the district in which each candidate resides, as it may prevent confusion. We have corrcted cur own accordingly. Slate Sentinel. JW F. Parker, the whig nominee lor Senator in the counties of Warren; Benton, and Jasper, on account of ill-beahh declines the race. Their cries alarmed some of the neighbors, who rushed to the spot and found the unfortunate woman weltering in her own blood the scalp, and outer . table of the.-skull, literally chopped to piccc-fd She had inihotod more than fifty ghastly wounds upon her. head, rendering it a perfect mass of mutilated flesh, bones and scalp detached fragments of which were scattered upon the floor and yet strapge as it may seem none of the blows had penetrated to the brain. Insanijy js assigned as the cause of this tragical event, ahhoygh no decided s) mtomsof aberration were manifested by her previously. The unfortunate victi.n now lies in a critical "situation, sufferingintensely from the horrid wounds, aud evidently beyond the chance of recovery. " . - Conversation foe the deaf. If two persons stop their ears closely, they may converse with' each other by holding a long stick er sticks between their teeth or by resting their teeth against them. The person who speaks may rest the stick against his throat or "breast; or he rn ay rest the stick which he holds in his teeth, against a glass tumbler or china basin into which the othe r speaks. The sound may also bar heard when a thread is held between the taeth by both' persons so as to be some what stretched. Advertising. Barnum, who bough ins Museum in Isw ork -ten or twelve years ago he was not worth a dollar, and who is now a millionaire, thus sets forth the way to make money. i j 1 . -jiuveruse, your business., Do not hide your light under a bushel. What. ever your occupation or calling may be if it needs support from the public, adver liseit thoroughly and tefficiently hi some shape or other, that will arrest public at tention. I freely confess that what sue. cess I have had in my life may fairly be attributed more to the public press than to nearly all other combined. There may possibly be occupations, that do not require advertising but I cannot well conceive what they are. Men in business will sometimes tell you that they tried advertistngnd that it did not pay. This is only when advertising is done sparingly and grudgingly. Homcepathic iloses of advertising will not pay, perhaps It is like a half portion of physic, making the patient sick but afiecting nothing.
