Nothing reported in Flour. Whiskey, 20" .. Sale of four thousand green Hams at 4c. Five hundred and fifty kejrs prime Lard sold at 5.1 c. The River has fallen one foot. Fit sbcr(,h, Nov. 22. There are fix feet water in the channel. The weather is plens'int. Tirtr 1tuvi-(. The Panama Star of the Cth Inst, furnishes the following items: There are now about five hundred emigrants on the Isthmus, nearly all ofwhom will be taken off by the Senator and Panama steamers, which ess- Is are mill here. The Unicorn sailed, filled with p-i--ii"r, on Monday last. She is a blow boat, and the passengers by the Senator will probably be in Sau Francisco as soon as those by the Unicorn. The Panama sails on .Monday or Tuesday next, and the Senator oil Saturday of this W eek. Ily proclamation, in conformity with treaty bearing date May 19th, at Bogota, the Isthmus will be a free trde country from January next. No duties, no monopolies. The other province of New Grenada are not included in the proclamation. The English steamers for Valparaiso leaves on the 27th of each month. Letters for the South Pacific coast must be paid through before leaving the States. Over six millions and a half of dollars have entered this port from South Pacific by the English steamer, fdnce January last. A new g"ld mine has been discovered in the mountain of Puna, in Peru, as prolific, and as rich as that of California. South American UtPtrr.i.tcs Fly the British uteanirr Don, we have received full files of the Havana Diario and Gaceta to the 1st inst., inclusive: The proppects of the sugar crop in Havana are highly favorable, and accounts from the interior announce that the cane never exhibited a more luxuriant appearance. Mouagas, in Venezuela, full of his triumph ever Paez, has exhibited much humanity in the treatment of the prisoners. The country is now. I according to the Putriota, coinm-ncir g a new era of prosperity. In New Grenada all was quiet; the cholera had left Carthagena, yet was still tfiLcting the interrir. The advices from Lima announce that the Peruvian Government was about sending a vessel to San Francisco, for the purpose of re-conveying to their homes the dUlressd Peruvians in California, who are represented to be in the most miserable condition. N. O. Pic. Lxercise am) Health. Downing's Horticulturist expatiates on tli" ad ii.uit.ige to our women of often seeking the air and Using abundant exercise, as the tru- means of preserving health and imparting to beauty a more captivating freshness. An excellent article hereon finishes thus: A word or two more, and upon what ought to be tiie most important argument to all. Exercise, frerdi air, health, are they not almost synouomous? Tl:e exquisite bloom on the cheeks of American j girls fade in the matron much sooner here than in .LrirUnd not only because of the softness of the Lnglth climate, as many suppose. It is because, exercir-e so necessary to the maintenance of health i hti'e a matter of h ibit and education here, and so largely insisted upon iu Kngland; and it is because exercise, w heu taken here at ail, is too often as a matter of duty, and has no soul in it; while the English woman, who takes a lively interest in t rural employments, inhales new life hi every day's occupation, and plants perpetual roses in her cheeks by the mere act of planting them in her garden. 1 "A Locofoco paper in I ndiana says that Gen. Jo. Lane 'can fight two battles while Old Zick is getting ready for one.' "A part of Lane's Brigade were so much bent on tightiag two battles to old Zick's one, that they hurried away from Duena Vista before the job w is half finished." We clip the above from the Lafayette Journal, into which we find it copied without credit or comment. Fie! on the Indiana print, that at this late day, in defiance of light and testimony, and at the expeiie of the proud character of its State, will retail so base a slander on Gen. Lane's Brigade a Ur gHce composed of Indiana Volunteers, than whom there were none more chivalrous at Bueni ' without a blutT rrpro. f to its lying author! oh, fie! Covington Friend. The SaTi-tDAT Cockier Case Th Philadel phia Ledger says that the long contested case has frn a-mcably settled between the parties. Mrs. Ilo!den has received for her interest in the paper over $40,000 in cash, and over $50,000 cf debts due the establishment have ben assigned to her.
