A letter received in this city from Saa Francisco, dated May 19th, states that that city is crowded with newly-arrived emigrants, and it is no uncommon thing for ten persons to occupy a single room of small dimensions. At the mines the Magas are pretty quiet; but fears are entertained that serious disturbance would occur between our countrymen and the Mexicans, as some six thousand of the latter recently arrived at the mining districts, and eviuce a most turbu
lent disposition. Should any Important outbreak ocrur. thev will be shot down to a man gix men in twenty days procured sixty thousand dollars worth of gold dust, near Feather River. HEALTH REPORT. Cincinnati, July 25 I, p. m. The number of interments during the twenty-four hours ending at noon yesterday were twenty from cholera, and twenty from other diseases. New York, July 25. There were eighty-nine cases of cholera and thirty-eight deaths for the twenty-four hours ending at noon to-day. Philadelphia, July 25. Sixty-five cases and eighteen deaths from cholera. Flour The market is heavier than yesterday, and the business done is at a slight decline, to $5 75 perbbl. The receipts are 700 bbls during the last twenty-four hours. Whisky. Demand fair and prices have advanced to I9).c. Lard. The sales of lard comprise 1,000 bbls at 7c. Pork. Mess Pork 200 bbls at $9 25. Circassia. Circassia is a mountainous, but very fine and beautiful country, bordering upon the Black Sea at its Eastern extremity. It is also contiguous to the Russian Territory lying toward this extremity of the Euxiue, and interposes its lofty mountains and fertile valleys between the clutch of Russia and those more level and Ie5s wild countries toward the Euphrates and the Tigris. It is the aim of this ambitious power, Russia, to become possessed, if it can, of all the realms contiguous to the Black Sea, on all sides. On oneside "the Wolf" has already laid his paws on the Danubian Provinces, on Moldavia, Bulgaria, Wallachia, and is, on this side, therefore fast advancing toward Constantinople. But before it cau enslave the tracts lying on the southern coast of this sea, it must subdue and pass the fine people who hold Circassia a race, in physical requisites, the finest specimens of men now to be found on this globe, and of courageand activity unsurpassable.
