Should be Remedied. While passing along North Water

street yesterday afternoon the Daily

Iprald representative learned that

Mr. Robert Alexander had successfully bored for good water and a good sup

ply in his yard, until he found it, at a

depth about equal to the Hunter-Bar-

nett, Wheat aud Wallace well, on the

same street. .... .

Now this water is pure and in abun

dant supply. It is far below the sur-

ace where impurities ot any descrip

tion would be. at all be likely to reach it, and the flow seems to be abundant, and spontaneous for all' purposes a pump can supply.

During the whole summer, Mr.

High has used this well in front of Messrs. Hunter and Barhett, for the

purpose of sprinkling the streets of

Franklin, filling bis water tank nearly everv half hour, and the supply did

not decrease; the well was equal to

all the demands made upon it, and in

act too greater the demand the purer

the water seemed to ibe uircneu tongue of the weary wayfarer, during

the oppresMve.days when the thermom

eter recistered beyond ;1UU degreBs.or

during many days when it stood in tho

nineties. '

Now we are led to these remarks by

a visit to the public school building

and contrasting the shallow, putrid water brought forth by the pumps in the yard, of that institution with tho water found iri the well of

Messrs. Alexander, at.d the other gentlemen we have named.

The wells in the school bouse yard

should not be tolerated a day. No tax-payer who visits that place, looks

in the wills, and tastes of the. water.
