Us c !d society there was divided op among the Methodist, Reformers, Masons, Odd Fellowsand a gang of Gamblers pretty equally, and a 'common worldling like himself etocd no show at all, and he should have to have or be ucsd op. A fellow jumped on hm, lis said, only the other clay, and he whipped the fellow, and the Squire Heed then both for an affray. He had a falling oat lately with 'his own horse' and because he 'cuiTed and cursed' him a little, they had him up and fined him for that. Two other fellows, however, who had agreed, and started to the creek to fight, hut one of them couldn't wait and bounced the other before reaching the phice agreed on, that was pronounced an assault and battery by the Squire, and only one of them fined. OCT A few days since a fellow came to this place with a ver;1 fine horse and bugy. It seems that traveling in a buggy was too slow for him and he concluded to sell out. Finally he found a buyer in the persons of Dan South and Jesse Martin. He offered his horse and buggy so cheap that Messrs. South and Martin couldn't let the chance slip to make a spec. In a few days after this trade a man from Illinois came here in search of the same horse and buggy. He avered that they belonged to him, and that the man who sold the horse and buggy had hired them from his livery stable and run away with the same. .The Illinois gentleman took the establishment, leaving our citizens minus the amount they paid the rogue, which we learn was near two hundred dollars. We hope the thief will coon find his waj to the Penitentiary. Hog Cixolsua. The editor of the La wrenceburg Register states that in a recent visit through Jennings and Jackson counties, he learned thr,t the chc!:ra had attacked hogs in the. counties earned, and Bartholomew, and that hundreds ' were dying every day.
