We learn that one of the legal

gentlemen of this place has obtained a complete catalogue of the names of the br.r.d of thieves burglars and robbers in this county, Montgomery and Boone (of vkich the Hands recently jugged here, are members) and that the fact will probably lead to a very sudden and general emigration to parts unknown, from those If lawyers cf the present day were not more anxious to defend than to prcceeate criminals, this list might be made isstru-j

Our Springs. A mineral spring, a mile or two south of town, is beginning to attract considerable attention. There is an abundance cf the water, and it is said to hold in solution properties cf great medical value. Steps have been taken to buiid a house and make other improvemeats, and a sample of the water is to be sent off foranalyzation. And should the result be favorable, further improvements will be made, and the spa formally introduced to the public. Our own opinion is, that this water is just as good aa that of the most celebrated springs in the conntry, and that it requires but a well directed effort through the potent agency of Printing Ink and otherwise to make it as popular and profitable as Saratoga, liar-

The meeting spoken cf i? said to have taken place in Boone County: 4 "Atone of the Fremont -and Dajtcn mass meetings in Indiana in the Presidential campaign, thirty-one young ladies dressed in white appropriately decorated, represented the States of the Union. As they rounded the platform prepared for the speakers, their dresses were slightly raised, exhibiting to the audience the words 'Fremont and Dayton printed on their under garments. As the eyes cf a Hoosier discovered the badge and its position he shreiked out: 'Can't you raise 'em a little higher and show us 'Bleeding

Another beauty of our town is the public well in the court house yard. The water stinks ro bad that you can smell it nearly across the square. The cause of it is not known, but perhaps the following will explain: A great long tlx foot Hoosier went to the well the other day, and after taking a hearty drink, exclaimed, "By G d that tastes of the kafr."
