Written for the Butcher-Knife, How They Used To Do, In pursuance of an act of the Legislature, appointing commissioners to locate the county-seat of Hendricks, Abel Cole and three others reported to the Board of County Commissioners on the 16th day of July, 1824, that they had performed the duty assigned them, and had obtained a donation of eighty acres of land, where now stands the town of Danville. Upon
the reception of the report, the county commissioners gave the place the nime of Danville, and appointed Thomas Henton acnt, for the county, to lay off the ground into lots and sell them at public auction. Among the orders then made by the commissioners, in reference to the

$3?" Friday the Agricultural Society met, and adopted a resolution, submitting two propositions to the members generally, in reference to obtaining fair grounds.
The first proposition was fifteen years
membership, for 810.
Second, to obtain Fair ground by donations from everybody who felt disposed to give. The one which gets the amount first, is to be adopted. Committees were appointed in each Township..to urge the matter before the people. It seems to us that the donation system is the best. Or Our agents, as published on the first page, will receive our paper free of charge, but in return we should like it very much if they would send us a club of names accompanied by the cash. Our
paper is permanent, and will not wink out "in a few days."
Old Buck's friends fear that he never will recover from the poisoning he received at the National Hotel. About thirty prominent persons have died from the same effect. What ought to be done with the murderer who administered the poison?
