The Town Trustees Meeting, regular monthly meeting was at Lawyer Greene’s office last rsday night with Harris, Finney Smith present. Fred Geiselman, a prominent young man od: Monroe township, died last Saturday and was juried at the German church Monday. Elder W. C. Arnold is visiting relatives in Orange and Harrison counties. Thu r Low W. Grim, a pfbminent young attorney of Petersburg, was here Saturday on legal business. B. F. Ferguson and wife' are rejoicing over the arrival of a beautiful girt baby. ' ' ♦ ~ Delo Dougan left for Illinois Monday morning, where he*will stay several weeks. The Woodmen will hold an open meeting here Saturday evening. Good speakers will be present. The public is invited. i Died, in Southern hospital at Evansville, Sunday morning, October 8th, Mrs. Matilda Hussey, wife of J, W. Hussey and daughter of Thomas and Jane McClary. She was born and raised here; was married to J. W. Hussey-about 20 years ago. There were bdlrn to bless this union two nice little girls. Soon after the birth of the youngest, who is now 10 years old, Matilda became hopelessly insane and
was {uaced in the hospital at Indianapolis, On the completion of the Evansrille hospital Mr. Hussey’s friends here through the influence of Hon. 12. P. Richardson, secured Mr. Hussey a good position in the hospital, that of assistant engineer, where he went so that he might be where he could be near his loving wife. Mr. Hussey by his manly conduct soon gained the esteem and confidence of the superintendent and other attendants. Mrs. Hussey was brought here Monday morning to the home of Mrs. J. T. Lance, sister of Mr. Hussey, and on Tuesday* morning was buried here, Elder P. M, Cato* conducting the funeral services. There was a very large crowd of relatives and friends present to pay their last respects to the deceased, and extend the hand of sympa thy to the heartbroken husband and his two motherless daughters. Mr. Hussey returns thanks to his many friends for services rendered and sympathy shown for sixteen long years of of trouble and sorrow. This Concerns You. H * The Palace hotel has a new sign and two new waiters. All the boys want to board at the Palace. Ralph Davidrtfa has been standing on his head in a barrel for several days, it’s a 10 pound boy. John L. Sullivan haa^moved in the property on Main street owned by Pearl Wiscaver. They all come to a good town. Gray ArCo. will move their storC to the room just completed by N. Harris and Son. The boys are No. 1 merchants. W. H, May, our genial supervisor, has moved into his residence on upper Mount Pisgah. Otwell has lost a good citixen. Otwell has no church at present. You now-can see on our streets anything transacted on Sunday that would lead a stranger to know that Otwell is no church town.
Sargt. John Sc6tt went to Elsworth, Dubois county, last Saturday so sec his best girl. John R. Hudson and James E. Butler of Petersburg, were in our town! last Sunday. The boys must have! some attractions in this city. Quite a number of the young people | of Jasper, were in Otwell last Saturday. Will say there were some very pretty German ladies in the crowd. Come again. .Mr. A. Braden and wife of Petersburg, have been visiting their son, J. L. Braden and family for the last two weeks, but will return hom^ in the near fhture. Uncle Amos and Aunt Kate are always welcome visitors in this vicinity. Mrs. Alice Weldon and Mrs. Lou Deering, two of Pike county’s most estimable ladies visited friends in Otwell last Sunday. Cox of Jasper, passed through our burg en route to Winslow Tuesday. W. M. Hayes and Dick Pride of Otwell, attended the reunion at Green Beadles Saturday. Mrs. Ollie Cooper and Miss Jane Shelton of Otweli, were in out community Friday evening. Mrs. Julia Collins and Miss Minta Hurstman of Winslow, visited friends and relatives at this place Sunday. James Kidge of this placet is able to be out again after a few days confinement to his bed. Theodore Arnold was in our community on business Monday. Mr. Barnett, the hustliug liveryman of Otweli, was in our burg Mon- , Henry Cassidy of Jasper, was in our community Monday. The infant child of Mr. apd Mrs. Joseph Richardson died Saturday, interment at New Lebanon cemetery. Quite a number of old soldiers and their families participated in a grand reunion at the home of .Green Beadles last Saturday. The editor of the Democrat made a visit to our locality last Saturday and attended the reunion. He secured quite a large number of subscribers for the Democrat, the best paper in the county. day.
Georgetown Items, Daniel Miller and Joseph McCarty made a business trip to Oakland City Saturday. Ottis Dyer is recovering from the bruises sustained by falling down stairs. 4 Uncle Van Mead and sister made a business trip 'to Washington last Thursday and came near getting drowned by an accident at the ferry. George Dyer will soon have his house completed. Mrs. Amanda Creighton is visiting J. L. Robinson's folks this week. J. B. Van Nada passed through our littlp town Thursday.
