Spurgeon Items. Dr. Osborn returned Saturday from Petersburg where he had been visiting his daughter, Mrs. D/G. Farmer. Prof. Brewster moved here Monday. He will begin school Monday, October 2nd. Our primary school began last Mon- ~ day with Miss (.'ora Ferry as teacher. Elder Charles Arnold has so far recovered from his recent illness as tp be able to attend church at West Union Sunday. Mrs. J. H. Barrett has been quite sick for several weeks but is thought now to be better with hopes of her recovery. Mrs. Wm. R. Langford and Malinda Fleener have returned from a week’s visit to Wadesville. W. B. Osborn and J. M. Julian and Delphia Ambrose are all building new residences which will add much to the imrovement of our town. Elder F. H. Wood, of Arthur, was here Tuesday shaking hands with friends. i Delphia Ambrose and Jarte Lance were in Evansville Wednesday visiting their sister, Mrs. J. W. ftussey, who is dangerously sick. R. W. Shepard while loading a saw log last Tuesday came .very near being killed. From some :ause the skid slipped and struck him on the head. It was thought at first that he was fatally hurt, but he was only stunned. Dr. Clark and Cash Craig of Otwell, were in our community Wednesday. Bob Edmondson of Otwell. attended the reunion at George Jones’ Tuesday. Frank Ridge and family of this place visited friends at Otwell during the past week. Several of our people are attending the street fair at Washington this week. W. W. Cooper moved his saw and planing mill to Otwell Wednesday. Miss Minnie Edmondson of Otwell, visited relatives at this place Saturday. W. M. McCormack of Otwell, was in our community Saturday on business. J. P. Hayes and wife visited friends at Littles Saturday and Sunday. John L. Richardson has moved back to his farm from Oakland City. .Dr. M. C. Harvey of Vincennes, was in our community Monday. The Sunday school entertainment at Wilson was .f airly well attended. Revs. Evans and DeBruler and O. D. Smith gave very interesting talks. Rev. W. J. Ridge is very low with lung trouble at this writing. No Right To Ugliness.
