PLEASANT O. SMITH. Last Friday wight the democrats of | Petersburg met at the court house for the pnrpuee of nominating a town ticket to ire voted for at the May election. The demo* ersta in the town are few in number but quite a number turned out on this occasion and selected a strong ticket. The meeting wa- called to order bv Hon. E. P. Riehardsm who was made permanent chaintian, and Perrv A. Chappell secretary. Rules were adopted upon w hich to conduct the convention, which stated that candidate® should receive the majority of all votes cast and that the election should be by ballots. An election board consisting of Ilau 0. Ashby, George B, Ashby; A. H. Taylor and C L. Holcomb was select eed. and the' work of nominating the ticket begun. For trustee of the First ward Willard A. Fleming was selected by acclamation. For trustee of tjbtc Third ward Pleasant 0. ."smith and E. H. Uoslin were placed in nomination.
