Dr. Hilameyer has improved the looks of his office by a new porch. W. F. Brock has sold his hardware store to William Rodituel of Petersburg. Simon Bearing bought a splendid lot from Dr. Pagm. Simon will build a residence iu the spring. Airs. Holland moved into the Charles Lewis property Monday. . J.N.- Morgan moved in the house recently vacated by Mr. Redeubaugh. Dr. H. Pagin and wife are sending a week at ftoonrille, after which the doctor will make another trip to Maryland. llon.WilliamGreen and wife of Nebraska, '■pent a few days here visiting his aged father Uncle Wash Green. Air. Green was born in Pike county 4S years ago. lie moved to Nebraska fifteen years ago. Three years ago he was elected circuit judge and a year ago was elected to congress. Mr. Green left here Monday for Washington City.

Dan C. Ashby made a business trip to Oakland City Wednesday. Trustee Tom Johnson of Patoka township, was in town Wednesday on business. John Cook, the Velpen attorney, was adr j mitted to practice iu the circuit court last week. > J. H. McCturkin, manager of the telephone exchange, moved his family here from Prineetou this week and occupy the Wilson property on Tenth street. A little daughter of J. P. Gladish, Madison township, died Monday of .diphtheria. The funeral was conducted Tuesday by Elder J. W. Richardson and interment at the Williams cemetery. Clement Doane, editor of the Jasper Courier, was a visitor to this city -the first of the^week. Mr. Doane is probably the oldest editor in Southern Indiana, having been the editor and proprietor of the Courier for forty years. The ceremony being [arfontml by Kev. J. W. Eider.. Miss Whit* ’is a well known and highly respected huiv of this city. The groom is one of tin prominent farmers of Vermillion county arid a most estimable gentleman. Thev left-on the noon train that day for their future home amid the congratulations of friends. Yesterday morning in the circuit court Judge Ely gave his decision in the case of J. K, Adams A Son vs Good let Morgan, finding that the plaintiffs could not recover off the defendant personally or the committee, holding that it was against public jHilky. The case is quite a novel one. In the last campaign Mr. Morgan was the chairman* of the republican county central mmittee, and as such chairman gave a number of orders for w hiskey to that firm, and which the committee did not pay for. Suit was brought against Mr. Morgan for the payment of these orders which amounted to something over $80. As above stated the court-found for the defendant and also made a special finding.
