John Watson is one of the proudest fathers in the new Gas City. The boy is seven days old this morning and is a bouncer. T. W. Rice, left Monday morning for Lost Cabin. Wyoming, where she will Tisit her son, ■ L. J. Rice and family, this summer. Sir., Rice is engaged in stock raising. April 37th, Alex Wiggs, the popular young merchant of Carbon] Mines, arrived in Oak land City, and watched j very anxiously for the north bound train. No oae knew why such a broad smile play-1 ed over his countenance as the trah. approached, until a few minutes later when Mr. Wiggs seated himself in a surry, drawn by two superb bays, and by his side a beautiful young lady, who was no other j than Miss Sophia Shield. A few minutes i later Rev. Josephus Lee had tied the knot | which taro hearts beat as one. J. R. Adams & Son. The Rev. W. F. Eastman, who was for a lime district superintendent of the Indiana children's home society, resigned the 1st of March and is in no way connected with the society. He frequently visited Petersburg carrying the mail from Paoli to this place during 1869 and 1870. He notes many changes here during the last twentyfive years. Hanford Connecticut, Columbia bicydcs, was in town Tuesday and was one of the many visitors at the gas display at tright. He was perfectly amazed at the blasts of the gas well.
