The gas company of Petersburg are doing nothing of the kind and are not running short of funds by any manner of means, but on the oilier hand have lots of money and some to throw at the birdie*. The gent lernen who are drilling the well hare complete charge of the nuav and it hae not been turned over to the gas company. When the well is closed down it generally takes a little time to open it up and the workmen generally get a ducking for their efforts to •how the people what it is. Ami if {<eople desire to see the gas and water spout when the well is shut off they generally “crack" down, whiek is no more than right. Come now. Aldie, ami don't get frightened.
