There are a number of people who are in favor of doing away with school boards in towusthe sue of Petersburg and let the township trustee attend to the schools, thus saving a great deal of expense. The last legislature enacted a law which give powers to trustees on this line. What will be done in Petersburg is not known. Rev. James Thomas, who has been in India for the past eight years as a missionary, preached at the M. E. church Sunday night. The announcement that be would preach that evening at the morning service brought forth a very large audience of his old acquaintances and friends, who ware glad to welcome him home and to hear him preach. His discourse was an excellent one and was appreciated by his hearers. Americans are the most inventive people j on earth.
