The band boys are making preparations to giye an entertainment in the next few weeks. No doubt the entertainment will be well patronized by our people. W. A. Oliphant Rev. Bain, formerly of Petersburg, take charge of a M. E. church at Little Rock, Arkansas, and Rev. Hawkins, of that city, has been called to Oakland City,to take charge of the M. E. church at that place. Mrs. Mary F. Little of Vincennes, has brought suit against the B. & O. R- R. for damages to the amount of $10,000. Mrs. Little’s husband was an engitieer on the B. Sc O. and was killed in a wreck July 30th last. Senator Bethell and C. W. Young, of Winslow, werp in the city Saturday. The senator expresses his disapproval of the county commissioners’ action in disposing of the county poor children to the cbildrens’home society, of Indianapolis. We are informed that a man in Knox county is the possessor nt a hen that laid six dozen eggs without getting off the nest. A number of the friends of Rev. W. A. Richardson gathered at his home Wednesday evening aud gave l^ira a very pleasant surprise. Henrv Gray died at his home in Jefferson township last Tuesdav afternoon. The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon, being conducted by Rev. Sims. Burial at Flatcreek cemetery. He was 68 years of age. Atden Heuring, of Window, has opened a jewelery and watch repair shop at Monroe City. Alden is a young man of the* be«t of habits and a fine workman. We recommend him cheerfully to the people of Monroe City and wish him success. Daring the past week pensions have been granted to Thomas Oliphant, of this place, and Joseph Corn, of Lockhart towpship.
