The Democrat has been requested to publish the game law. We think the information desired by our correspondent can be supplied with less trouble. The law was only slightly changed by the last legislature. Heretofore it ha9 been lawful to shoot quail from the 15ih of October to the 20th of December, says the Indianapolis Journal, thus giving the sportsmen two months and fire days to bang away at bob while. Last winter, in deference to a certain class, the legislature changed the date of the open season so that it would begin November 10, and continue till the 31st of December. This law is now in force and any one who hills a quail before the 10th of November is liable to prosecution. “C. C. C. Certain Clilll C ure’' i« pleasant to lake and harmless. Children like It. An Oakland City girl and her beau were somewhat disconcerted the other evening by the old gentleman entering the parlor unexpectedly. He stopped aghast, and commenced growing purple in the facb, the girl grew rosy and giggled, the youth grew pale and glanced toward the door, but just as the parent began to lei great hot big words escape from his indignant lips the quick-witted' girl poured on oil by exclaiming: “It’s ail right father l’vfe passed into the hands of a receiver.” Reuben Long, of Patoka township, was in the city last Monday. He is now ninety years old, and aside from the fact that he is partially paralyzed, is in good health for a man of his age. lie came to this county from Richmond, Virginia, nearly seventy years ago, and is the pioneer land-clearer of the present site of Petersburg. His life has beeu an eventful one, having had the ups and downs of a pioneer life, served in both the Mexican and civil wars, engaging in the latter when he was past sixty years of age. He was, in his younger days, a man of wonderful physique and courage. His remembrance of the growtirand prosperity of Petersburg and Pike county is simply marvelous. Dr. W. H. Warner has just returned from a visit to Petersburg, lad , where he has been investigating the merit ot Dr. Andrew Drybrough’s cure for drunkenness. That gentleman has a sanitarium at that place and has successfully treated a score of patients who were in the last stage of that dfKSase. Dr. Warner was much taken with the mode of treatment in
use at tiryorougn s sanitarium, ami thinks it is tar superior to the Keeley treatment. This treatment will he tested by the highest medical authority in this country gnd in Europe and if it stands the test, the discoverer will reap a well merited reward. If a branch sanitarium could lie started at this place, It might prove of much profit to its projectors, as well as an advantage to the town.—Crothersville Commercial. 1 Now Try This.
