No Gas It Was so Decreed Months Ago by the People. But that is no Season at All Why it Should Hot be a Go. Stock Subscriptions Should be Secured ( " ■ J, to Subject .Uotber Earth to a Thorough Toot Within the Next Sixty Days. As it is never a good idea to let things go by default, The Democrat will again try to awaken an Interest in raising the funds with which to drill for natural gas, oil or anything else. It may be a case of prospecting to fail in getting the much coveted fuel, but the people would have the satisfaction of knowing that it is not here. There is no disputing the fact that it natural gas or oil was secured but what it would add a great boom to this section of. the state. Princeton liaise clued gas but not in paying quanities, but that does not go to show that it is not here in paying quantities. There might be such a thing that at the first attempt a gusher might be drilled in. Who knows? Again, Petersburg people have the capital to invest in such an undertaking without in the least crippling anyone. The citizens are liberal to a degree and they should take it upon themselves to prospect a little. Ln the attempt last winter to raise funds the soliciting committee done very well for a few days and had quite a thousand dollars raised, but it needed three times that amount to do the prospecting in any kind of style. This is no idle scheme in which to sink money for nothing. It is simply a chance for big returns if gas is secured. If gas is not found then it would be money out, but if a business man risks nothing, lie makes uothing. Gatnral gas cannot be bad for the asking, you must prospect for it. It takes capital to go alter and find it. It is a good time to work the cause up. and with the general hustle that is now going on in this city the money should be raised in a very short time. Why not venture a few thousand dollars in the great fuel ? Make a trial this summer and see what there is in it. Move on in the matter.

Pro Bono Pnblieo. As there seems to be some popular misunderstanding as to the system of treatment used at the Lincoln Institute of this place, we think it is proper to enlighten the public so that the questions what the treatment is and its effect, may be understood and appreciated by all. We do not desire to borrow plunder or sail uuder false colors and wish the public to fully understand that the Lincolu Institute owes allegiance to no syndicate of speculators as particular discoverers of a system of treatment claimed to be incapable of iinproveiiient nor do-we consider for one moment that we have a monopoly of brains or own the whole earth. We wish however to be fully understood when we openly state that we do n%t use nor do we claim in any way to baye or use ‘‘The lveeley Cure.” While we have nothing to say against the cure or system of treatment of Dr. Leslie E. Keeley, we do say that we are perfectly willing to, (upon comparison of the result of the system known as the Improved Chloride of Gold treatment as used at the Lincoln Institute and the results of the Keeley cure *n Pike county,) abide by the judgment of the public and we rest satisfied that our system of treatment judged by the effect, result aim condition of health of the patient when discharged from the Lincoln Institute will compare favorably with any before the public today. Our system of treatment is radically different in its details from that ot the Keeley Cure^or any other liquor cure on earth. At the same jirne amongst other remedies, component parts of our system, we use the Chloride of Gold and Sodium, and can very readily demonstrate the fact that we do so and also the therapeutic value of this, remedy in the treatment of inebriety. We claim and justly : First. That our system ol treatment is absolutely harmless, and Will neither physically or mentally wreck any patient. Second, We postiveiy eradicate all desire and appetite for intoxicating drinks without merely disgusting the patient witli liquor, and our cure is permanent. Third. Patients leave the institute sound mentally and physically “Sana Mens in Sano Corpore” and no after had effects are resultant from Ihc treatment.
Fourth. Our patients are not all treated _ indiscriminately with the same combination of remedies, but each case is treated separately and ou its individual necessities. Fifth. In addition to treating our patients for the liquor and other habits, each if necessary receives special treatment for any other disease from which he may be suffering or the seeds of which may be latent in bis system, so that when he leaves the institute he does so in perfect health. As to the success of our treatment in the various points we outlive Jany business, as professional men in Petersburg can assure you and our “graduates” and their condition are conclusive proof of the truth of our statements. In conclusion we may add that we are at all times pleased to see visitors interested in the work In which we are engaged and to all snch we with pleasure guarrantee kindly and courteous treatment and ample opprtuuities for the fullest investigation.
