Mr. Fettinger is a (young man of excellent habits, a good citizen and possessed of the qualifications necessary to make "a first ciass official. The following named parties accompanied the remains of Mrs. \ Anna Cat ter to Petersburg: J. B. j Hendricks, Dr. and Mrs. Helms, of Peru, Ind., Mr. and Mrs. Qllie Kolb, Mis. Christian Provise and Miss Bessie Miller, of Princeton, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wilsbn, of Ansohia, Ohio, and Frank Carter, of Pu-due University. The papers throughout the state are paying worthy Prosecutor, T. H. Dihon, many merited compliment for his able and fearless prosecution of the whi:e cap cases in Dubois County last week. The trial resulted in the conviction of the midnight marauders and will no doubt put a check on these lawless bends who go about whipping defenseless men and women.
The bankers and railroad magnates of Indiana felt terribly aggrieved when called upon to bear their share of the burden of taxation as the new tax law compels them to do. Heretofore the poor man bore the principal part of the i burden and these wealthy individuals fly into the courts to compel a continuance, but the democratic party is after corporations and tax dodgers and is bound to bring them to time. ; . j Our citizens were aroused early ; last Thursday morning by the 'alarm o-‘ fe e- some one pushing ! along If a a ireei discovered smoke • pouringov of the door ami windows of me bvs?ne«q room 05- u.pied b Iv.s t- - ■ " ■ • .ne'v store, a nor ;■ -e . e • run waxen soon b»o .;,i r r » crowd to the . scene.
