The Spencer school turned out eight graduates. The exercises took place on Friday evening of last week. Within the last five months, ten barns have been destroyed by fire near Washington, Daviess county. The fire laddies were out with their engine, Thursday. They; succeeded in bursting a rotton hose. It is understood that a club is to be. formed composed of men who live adjacent to the streams and pends in this county, who will act as detectives and spot all persons who use the trap* seine or net to catch fish. Any one with the smallest amount of judgement knows that the fish law is being violated daily. The bringing to market of fresh fish is a positive sign No man can catch with hook and line the fish that are vended about this city almost every day. Philips, Union, passed through town this week, on his way to do business in the sunny south for a few days. . < Diehard Kinman, Dr. David DeTarr, and Dr. John Beardsly, all of Winslow, visited the K. of P. Lodge at this place, Tuesday night. Miss Grace Adams, who has been ill for a long time, shows no signs pf improvement, and is still a patient sufferer. She has many sympathizing friends. The operation performed on J. E. Anderson at Union last week was severe, as many as live glands being removed from his neck and throat. He as rapidly recovering. / New6 came here that. A host of Knox county people were shopping in Petersburg last Tuesday. Among them were Dr. and Mis. lioh’t Parker, Win. Wilson, George Osborn, John Bartlow and Samuel Adams. Drs. Byers, Fullenwider, and Kime are at the American medical association at Nashville, Tenn., this week, and Drs. Link, Duncan and others of the profession are left to care for the unfortunate sick in their absence. Oakland City Enterprise: M. L. Woolsey, of near Arthur, Pike countv, called on the Enterprise Thursday. Bv the way he is a candidate for auditor, subject to ihe will of the Republican nominating convention of that county. Georged King, who sold his grocery store to Anderson & Chew, has not yet gone into new busiuess. Prof. A. C. Crouch, of the Petersburg Public Schools, went to Washington Count}-, Pennsylvania, last Thursday. He was called thefe by friends who stated that his father, ag ed 81, bis mother, aged 76, and lii« brother, aged 35, bad all been brutally murdered. Orn were arrested here this morning, each charged with illegal voting at the city election held here on May 6th. Each ot these parties voted at Rushville on the morning of that day, then came to this city on a train and voted there They are all Republicans and were among the Dudley blosks-of-five during the last Presidential election. Each gave bond for his appearance at the next term ef court here, with prominent local politicians here as bondsmen.
