A Woman's Relief Corps has been organized at Iluntingburg. Tho government has put 2,000,000 young trout in White river. A lodge ot Knights of Pythias has just been instituted at Corrydon. Keller Brothers’ Creamery, at Corrydon, turns out 500 pounds of butter a day. A public exhibition will be given at Union to-night by, the Union Normal Institute. The debt of the town of Muncle, Ind., has increased over $90,000 in the last 3 months. The Democrats of Warrick county will hold their county convention on the 7th of next month. Boonville has been warned Ov the Board of health to clean out and disinfect its filthy places.
The money of the Teuton Building and Loan Association ot Jasper sells at only one dollar premium on the one hundred. Miss Ellen Stewart is insane at LaPorte because her mother is poor and her rfffianccd deserted her on the day that was to be her wedding day. A secret meeting was held at Hun* tingburg last week by some F. M. B. A. members and a county ticket was nominated, to be voted for at the Fall elections. Let us hare a good attendance here on Memorial Day, April 30. Then let the town goto work to make the coming Fourth of July a day long to be rembered in this county. Three barn burners hare licen captured and jailed at Crawfi r lsrille. They arc Win. Abney, Dale Corey, and Wm. McGill. They bad burned a |12,000 mill besides a number of barns and residences.
A man named Stanfield was convicted of vote buying and bribery at tile election In Columbia township, Dubois county, at the late election for trustee, lie broke jail last week and made his wav to freedom unknown. The election rontest tor Assessor of Jefterson township, of Pruitt vs Whalley, before the Commissioners last week, was compromised, each side paving their own costs, before trial. It cost Contestotv.Pruitt $43.60 and Contes tec Whaley $16.05 and the case was dismissed.—Jasper Courier. Ollie Small, a fourtecn-ycar old school girl, of Boonvilie, became a mother a few days ago, by her traducer, forty-two-year-old Wm. Ash, who had long resided in the widowed mother's family as a boarder. Ash is aow under bond for liis appearance at court, though he escaped lynching by only a little. In the whole Presbyteriau Church there are 213 Presbyteries, of which 193 have voted oti the question of revision of the Westminister Confession of faith. Of these 127 have voted in favor of revision, sixty one have voted against it, and five are undecided. There are twenty yet to hear from. The result is yet doubtful.—Indianapolis Hews. •

Thu longest trial, as well as the most Interesting this term of court, was the suit of Maria F. Hanniag, as administratrix, vs. the L. E. & St. L. Con. R. K. Co., for damages for the killing of decedent while working on cars of the defendant in the yard at liunthtghurgh. The issues were joined and the jury impaneled Thursday ; Friday was occupied in hearing the evidence aud arguments of counsel, and the Judge gave his instructions to the jury Friday night. The verdict was agreed upon about 8 o’clock Saturday morning, giving the plaintiff a judgement ot $5,500. The jury were unanimous for the plaintiff, but varied in amount at the first from $1,000 to $10,000, and finally agreed upon the sum returned. It is generally conceded to be a fair ver-dict.-—Jasper Courier. The delegates to the various Democratic conventions from Jefferson township are: S. W. Chappell to State convention; L. E. Lett, L. A. Traylor, and W. J. Abbott to Congressional convention; Milton McLaughlin, J. \V. Thomas, and Joel Coau to Senatorial convention; C, L. Hayden, Chas Hollon, and Robt. Edmonson to Judicial convention. Clay township's delegates are: State, M. B. Thomas; Cong., R. A. llyumen; Senatorial, Jas. A. Grubb, Judicial, David Grubb.
The Commencement exercises of the Petersburg Commissioned High School will take place at the OperaHouse, this place, Monday evening, May 26,1890. There are six graduates. In the Latin course are: Miss Faunie Carter, Miss Mary Crouch, Miss Era Hicks and Will Crow. In the German course are: Miss Bertha Frank and Walter Burger. Prof. Crouch has expressed the opinion that it is an excellent class, and predicts a bright future for the beginners. We have received no news from him since the operation was performed. The amount of cutting that would seem to the inexperienced to be necessary would surely render the operation severe in the extrema, and perhaps dangerous. Elijah Warner, of Kuox county, was throw n from his horse, Monday, and was somewhat injured, lie was going; home from this place, and when near the E. & I. railroad, hia horse: frighteued aud became unmanageable. Mr. Warren was taken to the City Llotel, where Dr. Fnllenwider attended him till Tuesday, when he was able to be taken home. The tine school house after the modern style will be built this Summer in Clay township. It will be wkrtned by a furnace or base heater. Trustee Oliphant claims that it will be more economical and also much more healthful than the old style of building. y

Hex ting buko, Ind., May 12.—A ten-year-old boy, deaf mute, while walikiug along the Air Liue Railroad at Male Station, a few miles south of here, was run over by a passenger train and instantly killed, bis body being horribly mangled. As well as going fishing or spend- ! ing leisure time at other sports, base ! ball will be good enough sport and : ample recreation. Why not have a | club formed here? But "take a piece j of good advice, and do not spend Sundays at ball playing. Floyd Miller, of Surrant, got an increase of pension, and was notified by the John M. White agenev, of this place, last Monday. Johnson will harvest, two acres of strawberries this Sninmer for markets in Indiaua. Hollon, and Melviu Price- will each build handsome dwelling houses this Summer. Emmett II. Smith has been rejoicing since last week over the arrival of a new boy which put in appearance at his home on Tuesday. Jasper Davidson, who was Senator from Gibson county 1875-7, will probably be nominated to run for Senator from that couuty neat Fall. Mart Flaener, of this place, and John J. Carnahan, of Washington, have engaged in a partnership for the purpose of introducing Mart’s new system of bookkeeping^ Joseph McCrary, of Union, was in town Thursday. He is engaged in selling goods on White river, Clay towuship, and is d^ing a good business, as he well deserves. Bev. N. F. Gill, of Ireland, Dubois county, has been called to a work in Kentucky, and will depart immediately for his new field of labor. J: C. Buchaunan will take the Rev. Gill’s place.

I * KILLED HIS TWIN BROTHER. A Quarrel About Politics Has a Fatal Termination. Vincexxes, M. May 9.—Last night at Edwardsport a deplorable tragedy was enacted in which John and Amos Lawson, twin brothers, were the chief actors. At the election last April it seems that John, who is a Republican, offered his brother, who is a Democrat, |I to rote the Republican ticket. This Amos refused to do. After that ill-feeling increased. Last night Amos was standing on the steps of a store when John approached. A few hot words passed between them, when Amos, suddenly leaping upon his brother, plunged his knife into his side. John’s wounds are thought io be fatal. Amos Lawson is in jail here. y
Newspapers^ ever Lie. The news comes from Laportc that Thomas A. Wcdgt was granted a decree of divorce in the Elkhart Comity Circuit Court Saturday and was again married the same day. This is Wedge's fifth m&trimouial venture. He was divorced from his first wife in April 1889. II was again married, divorcing wife No. 2 in August. Wife No. 3 he wan legally seperated from in October, and last Friday he obtained a decree from ids fourth wife. Three divorces were obtained in this county and one in Elkhart.
