The Aged. Mercer county,Ky., onre comprised all the territory now known a* Boyle ami Marcer counties, Ky. In that part ol Mercer county now known ft* Boyle count v, Samuel llollon, (lie subject of thi* sketch, was born, in 1802, five years before boats were propelled by steam. In August, 1831, be married Miss Sallle Beadles. She was born May JO, 1810, and died February 1,1876, on the homestead in this county, about three miles south-east of Petersburg. In 1831, a few mouths lifter his marriage, Mr. llollon came to Petersburg, and after remaining a few days lie moved to what is now called the Butler farm, uoar this place. Suou after he moved to the farm now occupied by his son, S. M. llollon, three miles from here (south-east.) Here he lived uutil March 1, I88R, when he moved to hi* daughter's, Mrs. M. Price's, where he now resides. There were barn to Mr. aud Mrs. llollon twelve children—six girls and six boys—of whom two girls and two boys aro <ieayi. Mr. Holloa lias alwars beeu a lanuer of Industrious anil temperate habits. In religi •: he is of the Christian church. He has boon a Democrat since he cast Ids first vote for Andrew Jacksou, in 1821.
