The editor ot this paper made no reference to Mr. Kre'is, nor to the editor of the news. The ar.'icle was written from memory, and without a thought ol offending anyone. But Mr. Krebs gets offended, |ierli»ps because lie is guilty of having written, and of having published, the indecent article. On the 18th of October, 1853, on the third page, in the fourth column, an i fourth item in that cojjpuin. is the exact language, which we quoted. Here it is, in letter* that Krebscan read without glass ee:

“Some very needful and tasty improvements are being made in tbe Presbyterian charch. An extension has been added back and the choir will occupy a raised platform in the the rear of the preacher. Corrugated iron takes the place of plaster on the ceiling, andthe walls as high as the windows will he handsomely wainscoted in panel. The improvements will add much to the internal appearance of thediarch. ”

The only mistake* we made hi quoting Krebs were Oct. 13. for Oct. But Krebs says lie did not write or print die above.and, because we referred to it long; after it came out in bis paper, simply a* a matter of diversion, lie takes special pains to deiu it, and to. call the editor ot the Democrat! the meanest and most malicious character. Why he will say he did not do the very tiling that everybody know or can know, lie did do, is unacountable in the act of a man who has the scn*e heretofore accredited to Krebs. Did lie want to say something indecent about the choir, and then want to deny it ? or was If demented? Alter what lias haj petted, the people will uot be surprised if Krebs suicides.
