Charles Elder, g young man living at that time iu Jeflerson township, this county, went to the residence of Dan Mershon, and for some eausenow unknown. attempted, or appeared to attempt the murder of Mershon, shooting at him a time or two. Mershon esc aped, aud on May 14th, 1885, filed an affidavit against Eider who fled the country. He stayed away two years, aud supposing the statuate limit to have expired he returned a few days ago. Mershon swore out au other affidavit at which Elder \As surprised. Au attempt has been made to arrest Eider, but at this writiug he is not found* Sot on the 5th. The M. E. Quarterly meeting will be held at Gladisli Chappell on the fourth Suuday iu this mouth instead of the oth Suuday. My Calf Found a Calf. A rather remarkable case of early breeding oecnred near liosmer, this county, a fewdavs ago, of a cow only fourteen months old giving birth, llcr owner, Mr. J. II. Mason, writing1 to the Dkuocbat, says: “My calf found a calf, aud I aiu lioiicst about it, its as big as its mamma, and she w as just fourteen mouths old.”
