Hedges, However, some persons at the Old Post knew him and also his wife, and when they saw the woman with him they inquired if he did not marry Miss -. He told them ves, but that she had died, and he had remarried two years previous. He passed that inquiry adroitly, but his relatives wrote to Keutucky that James Hedges aud wife had visited hem and their stay was enjoyable to all. This letter was given to Elijah Hedges’ wife whom he had deserted ii'x Kentucky. Hedges, the abandoned wife, on Thursday, the 18th inst. She came on with a little boy who is said to be “the image of his father." Mrs. Hedges filed a complaint against the happy couple, charging them with adultery. The recreant husband and the forsakeu wife were brought face to fa«', on Friday. Then he confessed his guilt, and, with his alleged paramour, was taken to the county jail. His wife and child returned to relatives in Dubois county. Hedges is a strong, good-looking man of about 28 or 30 years of age. and is said to possess some property i i Kentucky, where he has borne an upright repm.'tion until he made the break which is now causing him trouble. The woman in the toils, who is said to be Mrs. Carrie Hedges, is rather an attractive blonde, a few years youngei than Hedges. She is reported to have left a husband and one child, while Elijah Hedges ran away from a wife and fire children. Thus ends a chapter of domestic infelicity, and the imprisoned couple will await their eonvietioa or their extricathuK The Democrat now has a regular corres)>ondent at Otwell, who will furnish newsy items. Indications seem to point to the nomination of Mr. Townsend, of Te tersburg, by the Democrats for Congress, at their convention this year It is pretty evident if no others tliau he and McCullough, are in the race, that he will get four counties solid, and if Vanderburgh has no candidate he will get part of that county's vote.
