Sol. Wyatt met with a severe accident on Wednesday of last week. While taking sand from the bank (near Walnut Hill? Cemetery) it gave way and a large amount of sand fell upon his lowcrlimbs, injuring him severely. 1‘cl) Lamb and Dick Mitchell had a “friendly” set-to on the street Saturday night, according to the rules of the Marquis of Qtieensbury, in which no one was punished. Only one round was fought, when Marshal Martin arrested them. With .the roller mill here farmers can bring their wheat to this plaee instead of taking it to Jasper’Oakland City and other places for the roller process. It will prove of great advantage. The Montgomery mills will have a capacity of 75 barrels per day. The Huntress, the steamer built for the great trip to New Orleans once contemplated by Cent Withers, Hubert Olezen, Will and Joe Daverty, James Milov and others, is plying the waters in the White river trade at Shoals and other points. • J. 0. The country traversed showed some line wheat, that of the Cassidav’s, near the Arnold church, being noted as good. The farms in that neighborhood have a fine appearance, and the* farmers living thereon are busy with their spring work, f We wish their most sanguine hopes for a crop may be realized. Fn a conversation with Em. Harrell, a few days ago, Tom Fleming told Km. that if he satv him (Tom) smoking again he would forfeit $5. Em. hided his time, and 1 c had not long to Wait. Seeing Tom smoking, Em walked in his store and asked Tom for; ?5, which Tom gave him, thinking lie wanted to borrow it. Tom was astonished when told o! the bet by Em, who kept thdbiil several days. Tom finally compromised on 25 cents worth of cigars.
