TiiiE manner in wiiich tlw Chair-* man of the Democratic Central Committee was elected on last Wednesday night is without i precedent, and to ssy the least was a strange affair. This is the first time in the history of Democracy iu this <ou ity that a determined and persistent fight was over made for Chairman of the County Central Committee. It has been usual iu the past to have that position thrust on a man, but this, time it whs sougitt for, fought for. and obtained by a regular star chamber proceeding, by a secret ballot.
