Booavillo Standard: The entertainment of Prof. Frank S. Davidson, at the M. E. Church Monday night, was one of the most, enjoyable occasions of the season. The programme had a wide range; and covered a variety of subjects and characters, and was well executed from first to last. The Professor showed himself to he an elocutionist of the first class, and ail his imitations were true to nature. His, personation was perfect, and* the apparent ease with which fie Wstidered colloquios between several -persons was astonishing. The whole entertainment, from first to last, did not present one inferior point. Some of our exchanges are pushing along the following puzzle, which is warranted to beat the 13-15-11 as a destroyer of peace in the fiimiiy : Take a strip of paper or card boardjthirteen inches long and five wide, thus giving a surface of sixty-five inches. Now cut this strip diagonally, as true as possible, making two pieces in the shape of a triangle: Now measure exactly five inches from the larger find of each strip and cut in two pieces. Take these slips and put them into the shape of an exact square, and it will ; appear to be just eight inches each way, or sixty-four square inches, a loss of one square iuch of superficial measurement, with no ditnunitfen of surface. The question is what becomes of the inch. (Hosing Out My Goods at Cost. I will sell Coffee, SugSpr, Glassware (which is extra good), llats, Soap, Cottl Oil, ami all ray goods cheap.
