South Rend, Jan 13, 1833 44vl PROSPECTUS FOR INCREASING THE CIRCULATION OF Cüt JJlßMQUiü 23iimtrr. Having corrlpleted one volume of the Eannek with but very little if any pecuniary benefit, yet we are willing to rely upon the citizens of Marshall and the adjoining counties for an increased liberality and patronage in commencing a second volume. At our commencement ; a countv so voun: and sparsely popui ' ... lated, the permanent establishment of a respectable newspaper at this place, was looked upon by many, as rather a hazardous and doubtful undertaking; but that generous feeling heretofore manifested, and that liberal hand heretofore extended by those who have thus far bceir our patrons together with an increase in proportion to the increase of population, may fix the fact, that the Plymouth Banner is permanently located amongst you. We need, and should have additional patronage to enable the establishment to remunerate us for the time and labor necessarily employed in making the paper interesting and worthy of patronage, and creditable to the town and county in which itis published. Shall we have it? If each of our present subscribers would procure an additional one, (and we have mt one on our list nbo has not sufficient influence to do it.) we should feel amply encouraged to do the work assigned us, until our town shall number its thousands, and our county its tens of thousands of inhabitants. We think our request is not an unreasonable one. Shall it be granted? It remains for oar fellowcitzens to determine. It never his been, nor shall it hereafter be our aim to make the Banner a strctly political paper but a home newspaper a family fireside companion alike interesting and beneficial to the farmer and mechanic, the merchant and professional man the old and the young, and protecting the interests and defending the rights of all. A description of the size and mechanical appearance of the paper, can be more satisfactorily ascertained by the examination of a copy.
