“Everything gone Democratic!” The day was an ideal one for democrats, rained all day Tuesday, all night, and continued yesterday in celebration of the victory. For a rain like that of Tuesday always accompanies a democratic clean-sweep. While it is conceded that the Progressive national ticket ran second, and also the candidate for governor, Albert J. Beveridge, held second place, the election of Wilson for president is conceded in the greatest plurality of votes ever given a candidate for that high office in the history of the United States.
The old town was crowded with men yesterday morning anxious to gel hold of the latest bit of election nows.

i Returns early yesterday morning gave Taft the states of Vermont and Utah only. Roosevelt was credited with Illinois, Michigan, Sooth Dakota and Kansas, Even over in Tippecanoe county, one of the strong republican strongholds of the state, every democrat for county office but two were elected, Homer W. Hannegar for prosecutor and Harry G. Leslie for treasurer, being the only republicans elected by very; small majorities. The republican' majority over in Jackson township was reduced to almost nothing.

Reports indicated that Ralston was elected governor of Indiana by more than 100,000. In Montgomery county the vote was a clean sweep for the democrats, every candidate being elected with pluralities ranging from 1403, the highest, to 716. The total vote of Montgomery county was as follows, the candidates named in order of democratic, republican and progressive:— For President: Wilson - - 3802 Taft - - 2766 Chaffin - - 91 Roosevelt - 1246

The weather man brought us some frightful weather for Hallowe’en, and therefore the usual Hallowe’en festivities were dispensed with. There were several parties in town however.

Herman Nesbitt and George Grantham came home from Champaign, III., Saturday; remaining over (ill after the election.
Mrs. Monroe Mason entertained her Sunday School class, the primary class of the M. E. Sunday School, in a masquerade party Sunday afternoon. There were fifteen of the little folks present, and they enjoyed the masks, and ate candy, apples and nuts.
The Christian Ladies 'Aid Society gave an entertainment and supper and furnished their company with election returns in the K. of P. hall Tuesday night. It was a splendid evening’s entertainment well worth the money. Besides music by the New Richmond orchestra ( there Were readings by Miss Fern Mason, whistling by Harry Shackelford of Ladoga, and singing by Miss Opal Hauk. All the program was good. Election returns ware received by telephone and read to the company, and the crowd was a happy one.
One of our local merchants, a democrat, whose salesladies were Bull Mooeers, worked a slick scheme yesterday in flopbing them to suffragettes by cleverly tricking the young women to wearing loud badges of “votes for women!’’ The boy’s appetite is often the source of amazement. Miss Elizabeth Phillips gave a Hallowe’en party to some friends last Thursday evening at the home of her sister, Mrs. Arthur Bell.
Geo. W. Clough and wife of Crawfordsville visited her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas, Sunday and Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Clough left Crawfordsville Tuesday afternoon for Tampa, Florida, to spend the winter.
