The Epworth League met in a business session at tbe church on Monday evening and after transacting other business, elected the following officers to serve one year: A-President, Mrs. Jennie Mason; first vice president, Mrs. Geo. B. Jones; second vice president, Ruth Miller; third vice president, Louise Livingston; fourth vice president, Mary Tribby; secretary, Helen Miller; treasurer, Geo. Banta; organist, Mary. Seaman. A business meeting and social combined is being arranged for Thursday evening, July 18, at which time'the newly elected officers will be installed.

Miss Louetta Ulrey spent Friday night and Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ulrey. Mrs. James Miller and daughters, who live near* Alamo, came the last of the week to visit her parents, F. M. Wilson and wife. O. C. Vess of LaFayette is visiting his brother, W. P. Vess.

A stout lady entered a well-filled street car with her dimunitive husband. James W. Tribby sold his E M F. car to Webster Drollinger of Voedersburg. Mr. Tribby delivered the car the latter part of last week nnd the same day that Mr. Tribby took the car to him Mr. Drollinger started to Hillsboro from Veedersbnrg. As he was crossing the Big Four tracks he killed the engine and couldn’t get the motor started in time to get away from an approaching train. The occupants of the car had gotten out and the train smashed the car so that it had to be taken into Veedersbnrg on a dray. The Paris police recently raided a financial establishment in the me Lafittc and confiscated the contents of the safe as well as the books, thereby putting a stop to the lucrative source of revenue of a banker named Zucco, who has been in prison for several months for irregular financial transactions.

There is to be a change in the evening services at the Methodist church. The Epworth League devotional meeting and the preaching service will not be held on the same evening during July and August. Beginning with the Epworth League on next Sunday evening these services will take alt >rnate Sunday evenings during the hot weather. Consequently there will not be any preaching next Sunday evening. The regular preaching service will be held on
